ShootMania Storm is finding a good amount of success in its current beta form, running eSports tournaments at events like MLG and IPL. So, after releasing the Beta 2 update in December, the development team at Nadeo decided to step back and reevaluate the situation. Ultimately, they decided they wanted to do more with their game before release. Thus, ShootMania Storm will be officially available on April 10 instead of January 23, like originally planned.
Instead, Ubisoft and Nadeo will be opening their game up to the public for a two month open beta -- starting February 12. This way, not only will more players be able to try ShootMania Storm out for themselves, but Nadeo can pick up tons of feedback from the community and build a better game because if it.
"Following the release of the Beta 2 in December, we received a tremendous amount of information from the very active ShootMania community. For a living, online multiplayer title like this the work is never done, but these extra few weeks will allow us to polish the game further and release it to the level of quality we think our players deserve."
I picked up ShootMania Storm a while ago, as they're selling beta access at 20% off the full retail price (only $16). While I'm not particularly competitive in FPS games anymore, I had a blast with the unique pacing and platforming aspects of the game.
Check out the ShootMania Storm website for more information, or look forward to the open beta kicking off on February 12.
