Turns out the next game in the Sacred RPG series -- Sacred Citadel -- will be deviating from previous efforts, to say the least. That is to say, it's a sidescrolling hack and slash game that takes inspiration from "classic arcade brawlers". Don't fret, though, because it actually looks damn good.
Classes include Warrior, Ranger, and Shaman, each of which can be individualized through skill trees (or something similar, anyhow), and collectibles. Happily, you can team up with two of the other classes in drop-in and out co-op. Combat features duel-wielding, combos, and double jumping.
Sacred Citadel is developed by Southend Interactive, known for their work on the also stylish XIII. The game will hit Steam, PlayStation Network, and Xbox LIVE next year, sometime before Sacred 3.
