For those who haven't been keeping up quite so much, Riptide sees the addition of a fifth playable character, going by the name of John Morgan. When first announced, John was described as former U.S. Navy personnel, though over time, folks noticed the emblem on his cap was actually for the Marines. In the game, however, journals (and an accent) imply that he's not from the U.S. after all. Still ex-military though.
We've been putting Dead Island Riptide PC through its paces, and while there are issues with starting the game up (via Steam), it's run decently so far. Our first videos -- with more along the way -- show the new guy in action on the first quest, "Castaways." Basically, we get to see his hand-to-hand prowess as he tears through waves of zombies in a "defend the point" quest. Dat power kick.
The settings, for those curious, are about mid-range, with shadows on Normal, FX Quality on medium, Vertical Synch off, and texture and foiliage on high. The resolution is 1280x710.
