The zombie horde is making a return to paradise, as Dead Island: Riptide arrives on April 23, 2013, in the United States and Canada, and April 26 everywhere else. Riptide shifts the action from a tropical island to a military ship, but unfortunately, the zombies don't care. A storm hits the ship and soon after the virus spreads, leaving the survivors from the first game in another fight for their lives.
Developer Techland is including new vehicles, a new character, more weapon proficiences, and even "hub defense game mechanics" in Dead Island: Riptide. The steel confines of a ship probably aren't the best place to defend against zombies, and should make for a much more claustrophobic experience. If you're still waiting for another emotionally gripping CG trailer, publisher Deep Silver released one back in September, and you can still watch it here.
Hopefully the game's PC version doesn't suffer from any of the problems that plagued the first one, but we'll just have to see come April.
