Ubisoft's upcoming open-world action game, Watch Dogs, has received some good news for anyone concerned about the visuals. Technical director Sebastien Viard recently confirmed Watch Dogs runs on an all-new engine called Disrupt and not Assassin's Creed's AnvilNext engine. Disrupt is a proprietary engine designed for the game, so it'll look even more impressive than AC3. According to Viard:
Watch Dogs uses a brand new engine called Disrupt, developed specifically for the game at Ubisoft Montreal. It's not Assassin's Creed engine.
A brand new engine is certainly welcome news, especially with Watch Dogs being a PlayStation 4 launch title. New game, new system, new graphics engine; what's not to like? The game is also coming to the PC, PS3, 360, and the Wii U, though it's probable the PC and PS4 versions will look the best. Of course we have to wait until later this year to confirm that speculation, and drool over new screenshots and trailers released between now and then.
