What initially started as a rumor stemming from internet posts from a former Rayman Legends developer have quickly evolved into something more. Rayman creator Michel Ancel, along with several Rayman Legends developers from Ubisoft Montpelier in France, have appeared in protest photos asking, "Release Rayman." The photos feature a crying Rayman asking, "SVP," which means, "Please."

The rest of the message, translated by Eurogamer, reads as follows:

"Release Rayman. Support Ubisoft Montpelier."

Rayman Legends, the previously Wii U exclusive title said to have been completed for a late February release, was delayed seven months by Ubisoft management so it could launch consequently on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Frustrated with the delay, fans of the franchise went online to vent their anger. Ubisoft responded by promising a new, Wii U exclusive demo for the title.

As can be seen from the photos, the protest is meant to be conveyed in a positive manner. While there's certainly an air of truth to discontent to Ubisoft Montpelier's frustration with the delay, the protest photos are likely as much a message to the Rayman community as they are to Ubisoft management. They're certain to support the release of Rayman Legends as soon as possible, and likely support the internet movement asking Ubisoft to recommit to their original February release date.

Ubisoft has yet to respond, but I expect some sort of statement soon. I'll update the post as necessary.
