Dead Space 3 held an important position at the tail-end of EA's gamescom press conference. Their portion of the show included a live demo from early in the game, followed by the trailer below and then the announcement many fans have been looking forwards to -- a release date. Dead Space 3 will be available on February 5 in North America and February 8 in Europe.
The gameplay demo involved a spaceship in the process of crashing. Isaac had to get his things together and escape, followed by a sequence of plummeting towards the planet dodging debris and... uh, bombs. Perhaps Isaac's ship has stumbled into a minefield, but the demo came across very arcade-y. Not to mention, Isaac's co-op partner was always on the fringes of the scene... always watching.
Luckily, the trailer below appears much more classic Dead Space style. No fancy weapons, no ridiculous over-the-top monsters, no other people, just Isaac, his trusty plasma cutter and plenty of "Slasher" Necromorphs. Also, and this is great, but Isaac seems to be going a little crazy there at the start. Would love to see more of Isaac's damaged psyche in Dead Space 3, akin to the ending of Dead Space. Bring it on.
