Larian Studios is far from done with its Divinity RPG series, but with Divnity: Original Sin, it'll be going back to the drawing board. Unlike the Divinity II entries, Original Sin will follow in the footsteps of the very first title in the series, Divine Divinity, right down to its top-down isometric perspective so closely associated with other classic PC RPGs (and of course more recently Diablo).
Larian's Swen Vincke confirms to PC Gamer that Original Sin team will "address frustrations with Divine Divinity" while at the same time introducing new gameplay elements like co-operative play between two players. In fact, Original Sin's plot is centered around two playable characters, a man and a woman, which was probably no accident given Vincke himself admitted to wanting to make a game he could play with his girlfriend. Awww.
More Original Sin details will be coming soon, but its throwback to the original games should be an encouraging start for fans who couldn't get into the more recent entries.
