WWEGaming.com is reporting that Cory Ledesma, creative director of WWE Games, announced a major update for the upcoming WWE '13 video game at the WWE '12 Superstar Challenge that took place recently at WWE WrestleMania Fan Axxess.

According to Ledesma, the traditional Road To WrestleMania mode has been scrapped and a "Story Mode" will be introduced in its place.

Ledesma also stated that once the game is officially announced, a detailed list of changes will be provided for fans and gamers alike to check out.

Models are currently being made for Ken shamrock, Big boss man (corporation attire), DDP, and Rikishi, Road Dogg and Billy Gunn are completed. Most people will be disappointed as most of the attitude legends will just be guys that have been in other smackdown vs raw/WWE 12 games with attitude attires.

Too cool, X-Pac, Tori, Lita, and Gangrel will NOT be part of the game as he said he was told deals could not be reached with them as was confirmed by X-pac’s twitter rant about being low balled.

Other news: The story mode was originally scripted to be attitude era cut scenes done with modern wrestlers. For example: the Austin “beer bath” was a cut scene but with Del Rio in The Rock’s place in the story. Cory didn’t like this idea and has recently taken over the story mode and they are re doing the storylines now (as cory himself confirmed).

As of right now a classic raw arena is planned as an unlockable. Heat and Velocity arenas were planned but have since been dumped.

Lord Tensai (a-train) has been scanned and he is scheduled to be a DLC, this may change though as last year Sin Cara was originally scheduled to be DLC but his model was done ahead of time.

The article itself says “He doesn’t rule out a return to WWE and a recent agreement has led to him being a character in the latest WWE video games.”

Considering THQ is focusing on WWE’13 Video Game right now, and these lines by ESPN article clearly indicated that he is in the latest upcoming title, which is WWE’13 releasing Oct-Nov 2012

WWE’13 is rumored to be based on attitude era, and we have seen guys like X-Pac being approached, Road Dogg has already done voice overs for the game, Billy Gunn is already involved, and now ESPN has confirmed that DDP will also be in it.

According to our sources: There is no sign of this WWE12 game model with the tribal tattoos.

This current Rock should be in the game no question so it is possible some may have alternates for different gimmicks, but highly unlikely for more than 1 or 2 of them.

Although it makes sense if The Rock will have his Classic attire as WWE”13 is rumored to be based on the Attitude Era!

As for the roster, THQ is touting the "biggest roster" ever in a WWE game. So far, confirmed players include: Steve Austin, The Undertaker, CM Punk, Sheamus, Mankind, Big Show, Mark Henry and Chris Jericho. The THQ website says the game will feature 77 playable characters - 38 Superstars, 7 Divas and 32 Attitude Era Legends.
