Log in to remove this sponsored message ![]() Liverpool seal Lewandowski deal ![]() Liverpool Football Club have completed the transfer of Robert Lewandowski on a 4 year contract from Borissia Dortmund. The Polish international will wear the number 9 shirt for his new club and is expected to make his debut in the up coming Capital One cup tie against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium. We managed to grab a few words with the manager following the arrival of Lewandowski. "It's been a tiring experience today, I've been down here since 6 this morning until now working with the staff behind the scenes. We are relatively pleased with the day though, it would have been better to have got another one in but as soon as Andy Carroll left the club there was a shift in priority in terms of where we needed to strengthen." LFCTV: You say there was a shift in priority, was he original priority Papadopolous from Schalke? "It's true we wer in an advanced stage of negotiations with Schalke, over the player you mentioned but as soon as we had the green light from Dortmund to talk to Robert, we new what we had to do. With players leaving the club in Robert's position we new we needed to bulk that up and with this lads introduction to the squad we have certainly done that. Carra retired at the end of last season so we needed a centre back yes but we have the likes of Andre Wisdom and Seb Coates as well as Dan Agger and Martin Skrtel so we are relatively safe in that respect." LFCTV: For those that don't know what is Robert Lewandowski like as a player? "Well we've just paid 21 million pound for him so he will have big expectations here but he is a world class player. He's big and strong with a delightful first touch. He's very skillful as well and good in the air but more importantly he know how to find the back of the net. Also he's a player that seems to play with no pressure on his shoulders, he just takes each game in his stride and that's a great attribute for a player to have. The fans will love him here." Robert Lewandowski was the second and final new summer arrival in a transfer window that was relatively quiet on the red half of Merseyside. Here is a break down on the summer dealings. IN: 17. Alan Dzagoev <---- £6,000,000 + Fabio Borini, CSKA Moscow 9. Robert Lewandowski <---- £21,000,000, Borussia Dortmund Total spent: £27,000,000 OUT: 9. Andy Carroll ----> £18,500,000, Real Madrid 29. Liverpool have played just 2 games since they won the competition in the 2011/2012 season, after going out at this stage last season in a 4-3 defeat to Newcastle United at Anfield, Stoke City prevailed today at the Britannia Stadium. D4N rotated his squad with the players on the field still looking a strong side but whilst 11 v 11, Stoke took the lead through Walters. Liverpool responded by hitting the bar and the post through, Assaidi and Jordan Henderson strikes. The score was still 1-0 going into the second half and the reds wer still well in the game until Reina took a decision to come out and challenge Crouch for the ball, but fouled him and was given a straight red card. Liverpool wer not able to turn the deficit around following the red card and Stoke are through to the next round. MAN OF THE MATCH: Henderson "Disappointed to be out at this stage again. We have started so well in the league but we have to take it on the chin and move on with the other 3 competitions we are in." _________________________________________________________________________________________ Uefa Europa League Group Draw ![]() With the Europa League draw for the Group Stage being made in Milan this afternoon here is the draw Liverpool have been handed. Group D The reds will welcome Swiss outfit FC Luzern to Anfield in two weeks time for the opening fixture of Group D. _________________________________________________________________________________________ Australia take 4 points in Asia Cup Qualifiers ![]() RESULTS UPDATE International Match - Asia Cup Qualifier Australia 2-2 Korea Republic....'Holman, 'WilliamsIt was a fiery encounter between these two nations tonight and the score line was something of a yoyo through out the 90 minutes. The Korean's had the lead for much of the first hour and it looked as though it would be there night. But the Australians pressed well and eventually broke the Korean back line down with some neat 1 touch football in the final third, that found Brett Holman with acres of space and the Aston Villa midfielder slotted home to equalise. The final minutes of the game wer quite well balanced in terms of possession but it looked like the Ausies had stolen it in the 87th minute when Rhys Williams came from no where to smash the ball into the back of the net. D4N's Australia had shorley won it but Korea went up the other end to equalise in the second minute of stoppage time. 2-2 it finished. MAN OF THE MATCH: Williams "It was a good game from a neutral point of view i suppose. I thought in the first half we wer a little susceptible to playing the long ball and if you watch the game back, it wasn't until we actually got the ball on the floor and passed it about that we actually scored. The equaliser in the last minute for them was hard to take, we had just scored to take the lead but the lads looked as if they had already won and it cost us." International Match - Asia Cup Qualifier New Zealand 0-1 Australia....'WilliamsRhys Williams with the only goal of the game between these two rival nations. The game was stop start and tackles wer flying but the ball ended up in the back of a New Zealand net when Krose was bought down in the penalty area. Rhys Williams stepped up for the spot kick and converted to win the 3 points for Australia. "Good result today we deserved the 3 points and im happy with the performance." _________________________________________________________________________________________ Edit: Oct 24, 12 7:01am

![]() HANDS ON FOXCROFT BROUGHT IN TO STABILISE SHIP Former Liverpool youth coach Paul Foxcroft has been appointed the new manager of the club. The young coach, known for his hands on philosophy, has spoken proudly of the opportunity to lead his boyhood club. quote FoxcroftSenior players and inexperienced players alike have welcomed the appointment, with young winger Suso mentioning how Foxcroft had instilled a very positive style of play into the youth sides and how well his appointment will benefit the younger players in the squad. ![]() Impressed: Suso is impressed with Foxcroft's football philosophy. ![]() REDS ABANDON PRE-SEASON TOUR AMID SECURITY FEARS It has been confirmed this afternoon in a press release issued by Liverpool Football Club that the team will no longer by fulfilling their preseason tour of Switzerland after security alarms were raised in the country. This leaves the Reds without the proper preparation needed for the start of the league season away to West Bromwich Albion on the 18th of August. ![]() UNIMPRESSIVE REDS LEAVE IT LATE TO EDGE ALBION Paul Foxcroft's fledgling Liverpool side left it late to beat West Brom at the Hawthorns in the 3 o'clock kick off earlier this afternoon. A cagey affair which showed a certain unfamiliarity among the players as they try to adapt to a new system with new manager Paul Foxcroft was eventually settled by a 79th minute winner from débutant Oussama Assaidi. The Morrocan was brought on to replace youngster Raheem Sterling only three minutes earlier, and Foxcroft now faces a headache as to who will feature in the winger positions for his side. ![]() EARLY GOAL OF THE SEASON CONTENDER SEPARATES SIDES A marvelous free kick fired high into the Kop net from 33 yards was the highlight of an exciting clash between Paul Foxcroft's Liverpool and Arsene's Wenger's Arsenal. The goal came on the stroke of half time, as Liverpool's Lucas Leiva was brought down after playing a pass out to the wing. Suarez debated with captain Steven Gerrard as to who would take the free kick, and eventually the Uruguayan's persistence paid off. Curling the ball over the head of Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey into the top corner while Wojciech Szczesny stood in awe, Suarez then celebrated raucously in front of the home support. After a difficult summer with plenty of unrest over his situation at the club, Suarez will be delighted to get off the mark. However, it was Arsenal's number 1 who impressed most during the match, pulling off a string of magnificent saves to deny the Reds' number 7, most notably a fantastic save with his feet denying Suarez from a brilliant 20 yard drive. This goalkeeping masterclass will surely have caught Foxcroft's attention. quote FoxcroftIn other news, a youthful Liverpool side defeated Middlesbrough 3-0 at Anfield in the Capital One Cup, with goals from Suarez, Joe Allen and Oussama Assaidi ![]() REDS UNDERLINE TITLE AMBITIONS BY SPENDING BIG In an otherwise uneventful transfer deadline day, Liverpool saw the transition of no less than eight players on the 31st of August. The first player to arrive at the club, costing £2.7m from Birmingham City was England 'keeper Jack Butland. The highly sought after prospect was brought in early during the day, causing a few raised eyebrows amongst Liverpool fans. Perhaps their worst fears were confirmed when, after 7 years at the club, Spanish goalkeeper left the club later on in the afternoon to join Real Madrid for £9m. In the following hours, several second string players left the club, with the likes of Jonjo Shelvey moving to Aston Villa for £4m, Joe Cole joining Sunderland for £3.5m and Stewart Downing joining Newcastle United for £3.5m. A controversial move, considering Downing had already played for both of the North East's major players. Similarly to the Butland move, Liverpool then brought back an old player who left quietly in the summer of 2011, Argentine left back Emiliano Insua for a fee of £8.5m which has been questioned by fans and pundits alike. In turn, Spanish full back José Enrique, who had struggled in the previous 9 months of his Anfield career returned home to his native Spain, joining Valencia, a club at which he had been on the books before. Finally, at the eleventh hour, it was revealed that Liverpool had spent the day in talks with two high profile players, both with the intent of adding much needed firepower to the Liverpool strike force. It was revealed that one of these players was Chelsea's Fernando Torres, who left Liverpool acrimoniously in 2011. Fans were split; many were reviled that Torres was being considered, many were happy to see that Torres may return to the club he claims "he still owes a lot". However, personal terms could not be agreed, and the move fizzled. The manager and his staff worked long and hard during the final hours of the transfer window and eventually, with a bid of £34m, almost a record for the club, Foxcroft managed to lure Argentine striker Sergio Aguero from forty miles down the road at Manchester City. The striker is said to be impressed with how Foxcroft has presented himself and looks forward to working with the club as he believes Liverpool is one of the greatest institutions in world football. quote ![]() One joins... ![]() Another leaves. So, after the summer changes, how do Liverpool line up? ![]() The full squad is as follows: Goalkeepers: 1. Jack Butland 25. Brad Jones 32. Doni 42. Peter Gulácsi Defender 2. Glen Johnson 5. Daniel Agger 13. Danny Wilson 16. Sebastian Coates 22. Emiliano Insúa 23. Jamie Carragher 34. Martin Kelly 37. Martin Skrtel 38. Jon Flanagan 45. Stephan Sama 47. Andre Wisdom 49. READING ANNOUNCE WARETH AS NEW MANAGER! ![]() Reading FC have announced Gareth Wareth as the new manager to start their return to the Premier League after. Brian McDermott quit for the Barcelona job... Realistic enough? Wareth started his career at Reading by announcing the return of Reading hero Kevin Doyle in a 3 million pound move from Wolves. It's great to be back and I'm really looking forward to my second spell here! I loved it the first time and probably should have stayed... Said Doyle at a 'Reading 2011/12 Season' book & DVD release. ![]() Wareth then added Ivory Coast midfielder & Korean centre back, Didier Zokora and Lee Jung Soo on free transfers. Both will be key members of this teams! said Wareth. ![]() Zokora was speaking at an event in Ivory Coast, set up by Zokora, Drogba and the Touré's, raising money for young kids who need a pitch and equipment, which has been payed for by the four icons. Wareth also added Matthew Briggs in a £950k deal from Fulham. Briggs said, I was tired of warming the bench and Reading have given me a chance ahead of 2 other decent left backs in Harte and Shorey. I am so happy to have this chance and want to show I deserved it! Also, Wareth decided to loan out Raheem Sterling from Liverpool for the season, with an option to buy him at the end of the season for around £1.5 million. Obviously, delighted at the chance of first team football, and who knows, maybe I will stay, maybe I won't? ![]() Sick of warming the bench, Briggs signs on. Many players left, the biggest being Jason Roberts, who returned to Blackburn, the club he left 7 months previous, for £575k. Many youth players left for sums of around £50k-£100k. Then, Wareth announced he was pursuing the signing of 23 year old Colombian goalkeeper, David Ospina. And the day before match day one, Wareth announced a bid of £1 million plus Adam Federici had been made.

![]() Reds fight back to win at the Bridge ![]() RESULTS UPDATE Barclays Premier League Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool....'Allen, 'Suarez Liverpool make it 4 wins from 4 in the Barclays Premier League after fighting back from a goal down against Chelsea. The reds have now taken maximum points from Man United, Newcastle, Spurs and Chelsea. When the fixtures wer announced it was thought it would be a tough start to the season for D4N's reds but at the moment they are top of the table. Former Liverpool attacker, Fernando Torres had given Chelsea a lead in the first half, which lasted until the 68th minute when Joe Allen smashed a half volley into the bottom corner from the edge of the box to equalise for Liverpool. The goal that leveled the scores seemed to galvanise the reds and they pressed Chelsea deep into their own half. It was in the 82nd minute when Luis Suarez stole the points for the reds. John Terry with a wayward pass intercepted by Nuri Sahin who presented Suarez with the chance to win the game and the number 7 took it, slotting the ball past Cech. It finished 2-1 to the visitors making it 4 wins from 4 for D4N's men. MAN OF THE MATCH: Skrtel "Brilliant result today, we showed tremendous character to turn around the score line and win the game to continue our good form in the league. Long may it continue." _________________________________________________________________________________________ Edit: Oct 26, 12 6:06am

SS. LAZIO 2014-15 SEASON CLIMAX & CATCH UP 2013-14 The major reshuffle in January spurred Lazio to a 3rd place finish, earning the club a valuable spot in the Champions' League. The side's Europa League run came to an end in the semi-finals at the hands of Anzhi Makhachkala. 2014-15
August proved to be another tame window for Lazio, with the club fighting off bids from big European clubs for the team's stars, Neymar and Eriksen. A few wantaway players found themselves new clubs, including Lorik Cana and Juan Pablo Carrizo, as well as some important loan opportunities for the club's youngsters. The only man on the in-tray was Cagliari's star centre back Lorenzo Ariaudo, who made an €11.5m switch to the biancazzurri. The media had made a big fuss over the new-look Lazio that Fabio Galletti had constructed over his two seasons in charge, with talks of title challenges fuelled by the dynamic young squad. From the very start, you could tell Lazio would deliver. Neymar started the season in firing form, helping the club to some dominant victories over rivals Napoli and Roma, as the side picked up a staggering 28 points from their first 11 games. Unfortunately for Lazio, reigning champions Juventus had other ideas about the upstart club from Rome, bagging an unprecedented 31 points from 33 before the two sides met in gameweek 12. The Turin giants pulled off a dramatic 2-1 win at the Stadio Olimpico to kickstart a charge into clear space at the top of the table. Neymar's remarkable consistency in front of goal kept Lazio in contention in the league, while the club showed great promise in the youth members of the team as they eased past the group stages of the Champions League ahead of Liverpool, Ajax and Malmo FF.
January was once again quiet for Lazio, with just one notable purchase among a handful of departures. €14m is believed to have been the fee to sign PSV's Luciano Narsingh, and the Dutch international proved his worth in dramatic style in March, on a hot evening at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium. After easing past Bayer Leverkusen in the round of 16, Lazio set up a big tie with Real Madrid. Just 10 minutes in, Madrid were reeling as Lazio led 2-0 in the home leg, but the comeback, once started, seemed inevitable, and two very unpopular goals from the €60m man Luca Romanó put the visitors on terms, and feeling happier with the result going into the second leg. A week later, Madrid led 1-0 through a goal of the season contender from Cristiano Ronaldo. Lazio's time looked to be up, until Narsingh made a second half sub appearance, transforming the game and equalising with his first touch of the ball. In a climax of the sort usually reserved for films, Narsingh won a 90th minute penalty which was put away, and put Madrid out. As the end of the season closed in, Lazio looked to be settled for second in the league, but with just 5 games to go, Juventus underwent a spectacular implosion, picking up 4 points from 15 ahead of the penultimate game of the season, a clash with Lazio which seemed set to be Juventus' chance to parade round the stadium as champions elect. Instead, Lazio have the chance to close the gap to just 2 points. Copa Nazionale finalists, Champions' League finalists, the league running closer than anyone could have expected. For Lazio, May is a month of must-win games. For Galletti, a trophy might be what's needed to keep his job. ![]() JUVENTUS 1-2 LAZIO The title race was made very interesting following Lazio's dominant win at the Juventus Stadium. With 37 matches now played, the gap separating the two teams at the top is just 2 points, with chasers Lazio far better off on goal difference. From the start, Galletti's team set out to attack Juventus off the back of their nervy run of form, but for the first half it seemed to be one of those days for Lazio, as Muslera stopped everything they could throw at him. The introduction of Neymar on 50 minutes changed the game as the Brazilian exploited Juve's makeshift defence to open the scoring not long after coming on. With Juventus opened up, Lazio forced the game into their style of football and ran the midfield, with Neymar inexplicably failing to double his tally in front of an open goal after a quick breakaway from Mauro Zarate. In the end, the second goal came from Joao Moutinho, the midfielder latching on to a cleared corner and volleying home from 25 yards. With 88 minutes on the clock, Juventus scrambled the ball in from 3 yards out, but the fight had been put out of them long ago, and any hope of a dramatic equaliser was gone. Juventus visit 9th placed Palermo on the final day of the season, while Lazio make a trip to 19th placed Bologna. Edit: Oct 27, 12 6:25am -------------------

![]() West Ham Confirm Allardyce move to Birmingham, El-Karatac takes the hotseat Earlier today, The COYI Syndicate confirmed the talks between Sam Allardyce and Birmingham, and unfortunately he decided to leave the Hammers, and got a standing ovation from all of the Boleyn. El-Karatac topped many experienced managers such as: Malky Makaay, Erwin Koeman, Neil Lennon, and Steve Bruce for the job. He was quoted in The Global Paper as saying: "It is my task to give West Ham the success they crave, and I intend on making them a force to be reckoned with, and I will not rest until I have made them exactly that. This will be the day that West ham changes for the better, the day the fans can be proud, I will give 110%, and nothing less!" These were very inspiring words and The Hammers fans hope he can live up to what he claims he will do. ![]() Ex-Spurs Icon signs on a free! ![]() Hossam Ghaly has agreed on a two year deal with the hammers. He claims that this could be the most exciting move of his career, he showed some great signs in the PreSeason, scoring two in 15 minutes against Osasuna. El-Karatac says this is the first move in the 'Claret and Blue Revolution'. But there are many questions about this move. At 30, will Ghaly really excel and be on the top of his game? Does he know much about West Ham's Attacking style? These questions will obviously be answered during the course of the season. BIG MONEY SIGNING ![]() £4.3 Million was the pricetag slapped on this rightback who is the first money signing in the Claret and Blue revolution. After a big bidding war, West Ham beat Reading and Southampton, the three newly promoted teams, in the race to sign Naughton. after Southampton said in a press conference they were willing to dish out £10 Million in order to recieve his services, West Ham looked like no-hopers. But, as it goes, The Saints didn't have sufficient funds to keep that promise, and at this point, Reading had dropped out of the process, so Spurs gave way and let West Ham buy him. This could be the start of a very exciting time at Upton Park, So the fans hope!! -------------------

![]() Lewandowski opens his account as Red's get off to a winning start in Europe ![]() RESULTS UPDATE Europa League - Group Stage Liverpool 1-0 Vålerenga....'Lewandowski Liverpool started Group D off with a win against Norweigian outfit, Vålerenga. Deadline day arrival, Robert Lewandowski made his debut for the reds in a very young looking Liverpool side. D4N opted to field a youthful bunch despite the terrific start to the season they've had in the Premier League. Brad Jones got the nod in goal with a back four of Flanagan, Wisdom, Coates and Enrique, Jonjo Shelvey, Jordan Henderson and Suso in midfield with Assaidi, Lewandowski and Dani Pacheco upfront. The game was a battle in midfield for large parts but one pivotal move saw, Lewandowski prove his quality to the adoring Kop. There was around 15 minutes left on the clock when Jonjo Shelvey picked out Liverpool's new number 9. The Pole found himself in a wide position and after looking up to see who was in support, he couldn't pick anyone out easily. Lewandowski came inside with the ball ghosting past 3 defenders with tremendous close control, a shot with the outside of his right foot nestled into the top corner to eventually win the game. D4N will be over the moon with the way his team has started the season, it finished 1-0 at Anfield. MAN OF THE MATCH: Wisdom "It's a great win and we are in a good run of form at the moment. Rob's (Lewandowski) goal proved his class it was a fantastic individual effort. But it was a team performance that won the game. The lads play for one and other and the togetherness is there for all to see. I thought Andre Wisdom was top draw at the back today, he's 19 years of age and with Carra having retired he will get more opportunities like today, but i thought he was man of the match today. Pleased with the win now to concentrate on Norwich here on Sunday." ![]() Wisdom will take a lot of confidence from tonight's performance. Barclays Premier League Liverpool 2-2 Norwich....'Skrtel, 'Sterling Liverpool's 100% record in the League was cut short today but the reds remain unbeaten. D4N won't be happy with the way his side finished the game with the away side's both goals coming in the last 20 minutes. Martin Skrtel gave Liverpool the lead after 35 minutes, leaping up well from a Steven Gerrard corner. The reds looked comfortable in possession during the first half and Norwich wer left frustrated as they couldn't get near the ball. At the end of the first half Liverpool had a 1-0 lead. Raheem Sterling doubled that lead not long after the restart with brilliant link up with Luis Suarez, the finish was at a stretch but the 18 year old got enough on it to take it past Ruddy. Liverpool wer twice caught napping after the second goal and after goals from both Pilkington and former Liverpool defender, Daniel Ayala, the reds wer chasing the game. D4N replaced Raheem Sterling with Robert Lewandowski and moved Suarez out to the left. Lewandowski went close to grabbing the winner in injury time but was denied by the post after a 25 yard effort. The scores remained 2-2. MAN OF THE MATCH: Sterling "We should have won the game. No disrespect to Norwich but we dominated that game, we went to sleep at the back in a space of 10 minutes really they scored twice. We will learn from it though, i could be standing here having lost the game but a point is obviously better than nothing." Barclays Premier League Liverpool 1-2 Aston Villa....'Gerrard It was a meeting between 1st and 2nd in the league today. With both sides in brilliant form it would be the visitors who would take the 3 points leaving D4N's men with their first defeat of the season. It looked like it was going to be a good day for Liverpool fans when skipper Steven Gerrard gave his side the lead after 9 minutes, getting on the end of a Gaitan cross with a brilliant volley. Villa went up the other end before the half time whistle and scored twice with goals from Marc Albrighton and Darren Bent. Liverpool pressed in the second period, and both teams had chances to score but the score remained 2-1 and Liverpool slip to there first defeat of the new season. MAN OF THE MATCH: Gerrard "We wer unlucky today i thought we had chances to score in the second half but it just wasn't to be. Rob (Lewandowski) had his first start and he was unlucky not to score, especially the header it was a great save from there keeper. You can't win them all but hopefully we will bounce back and win the next one." ![]() Gerrard's goal couldn't kick start Liverpool's game today. Europa League - Group Stage FC Luzern 1-2 Liverpool....'Suso, 'Assaidi Liverpool wer back to winning ways tonight in the Europa League, following a draw against Norwich and the defeat at Anfield against Aston Villa the weekend. D4N continued to show his faith in the youth players again tonight with a very young squad fielded for the fixture. The first goal came after 12 minutes a brilliant scissors kick from Suso after Assaidi found him with a brilliant cross. Despite Liverpool's dominance the score remained 1-0 until the half time whistle. Jordan Henderson switched the ball to Assaidi in the opening stages of the second half and his first touch was different class to get away from his defender, it was a composed finish from the Morrocan. Luzern clawed a goal back before the final whistle but the reds take all 3 points back to Anfield. MAN OF THE MATCH: Flanagan "Good win away from home tonight. It's always going to be hard away from home in Europe but i thought the lads handled themselves brilliantly tonight. We are top of the group at the moment and hopefully we will continue in this fashion and get out of it to progress, but we will take it one game at a time." Barclays Premier League Liverpool 2-1 Cardiff....'Lewandowski, 'Sterling Premier League new boys, Cardiff City held their own today at Anfield and played some good football at times. The reds however did prove to strong for the bluebirds with goals from Robert Lewandowski and Raheem Sterling enough to win the three points. Lewandowski, who made his first Premier League start since his move from Dortmund today, opened up the scoring in the second half. After Cardiff defended brilliantly in the first to keep the reds at bay. Steven Gerrard created the chance for Liverpool's number 9 after a perfectly timed through ball, Lewandowski only needed one touch and the ball was in the back of the net at the kop end. Tommy Smith was the next to score at Anfield - No not the Liverpool Legend that is Tommy Smith - his namesake levelled the scores for Cardiff with a brilliant header. 1-1. Raheem Sterling was the young man that was eventually the difference between the two sides, coming in field from a wide position on the left, the England under 21 international curled the ball into the far corner to win the game with 12 minutes left on the clock. MAN OF THE MATCH: Allen "They wer solid defensively in the first half. I said to the lads at half time that we needed to be a tad more adventurous in order to break them down. Luckily we managed to achieve that with a brilliant ball from Stevie (Gerrard) and a fantastic finish from Robby Lewandowski. Credit to Cardiff though if they continue to defend the way they did today and play football like they have done, they should be safe." ![]() Sterling's goal was the difference today. Barclays Premier League Arsenal 0-0 Liverpool A nil nil draw at the Emirates between two sides who will arguably battling at the top of the table come May. Joe Allen picked up a strain in the pre match warm up prompting D4N to select Alan Dzagoev along side, Sahin and Gerrard in midfield. The Russian has not had things easy at Liverpool since his summer move and has struggled at times, but today he bossed the game in midfield. Both sides went close to opening the scoring, but both goal keepers wer fantastic today. The score line suggests a boring game, but it was anything but. The game was end to end with Liverpool looking more the likely to score than Arsenal though, Sahin, Gaitan, Suarez and Gerrard wer all denied by the gloves of Wojciech Szczesny. The game finished 0-0. MAN OF THE MATCH: Dzagoev "It was a great game despite the obvious lack of goals from a neutral point of view. We pressed them high up the park but couldn't find the net. As for Joe, he felt a little strain in his thigh during the warm up so with Alan (Dzagoev) and Jordan (Henderson) on the bench we had adequate cover so we didn't risk him. Alan came in and gave a brilliant performance so i have a headache for the next game." ![]() Dzagoev proved his class in replacing Joe Allen at the Emirates today. _________________________________________________________________________________________
![]() RESULTS UPDATE International Friendly Australia 2-1 Spain....'Rukavysta, 'Williams D4N's Australia shocked the World tonight as they defeated Spain by 2 goals to 1 in Sydney. The World and European Champions wer hot favorites for a rout in the friendly but D4N got his tactics spot on with a 4-5-1 formation and goals from Rukavysta and Williams bettered the one goal from Andreas Iniesta. The home nation never controlled the game, the Spaniard's saw a lot more of the ball than Australia but the Aussies wer defensively sound and hit well on the counter. D4N packed out his midfield and they kept a very tight compact unit leaving Spain very little space to create. The first goal came from a quick counter that saw the ball lofted high over the Spanish back line to the feet of Rukavysta who rifled past Pepe Reina to give the socceroos the lead. The second goal came when Rhys Williams ghosted into the box from a Cahill pass unchallenged, he passed the ball into the bottom corner to make it 2-0 to Australia! Andreas Iniesta hit one back for Spain but the home nation saw it out till the final whistle to claim a memorable win. "Although it was only billed as a friendly match, i thought we had a chance to put a stamp on how we go about our football. When i was first told we would be playing the World and European Champions, only one thing came into my mind, we need to beat them. They have some fantastic, technically gifted footballers, but there is a way to stop anything in football. We new we had to be solid defensively that was first and foremost. I new we had the ability to pounce on the counter and it worked. A fantastic result and the lads can enjoy this today."International Friendly Australia 0-1 Czech Republic Following there win over Spain the weekend, Australia faced another tough opponent in the Czech Republic. D4N saw no need to break on the counter as he did against Spain, and instead went all out attack with a 4-3-3 formation. The Ausies did see a lot of the ball and played some brilliant football at times, but the vital point they missed out today was getting the ball in the back of the net. The visitors had one chance and took it, David Lafata with the only goal of the game. D4N will take the positives from this fixture though, as his side looked very comfortable on the ball, they just lacked that cutting edge in the final third. "We played some good football today, we pressed the ball well and passed it around when in the final third. What is important is the players have seemed to top panicking so to speak. 12 months ago when i first took over we wer very rushed at times but now we seem to have that patience about or play. Obviously you never want to loose a football match but we can take a lot from today's performance." _________________________________________________________________________________________ Edit: Oct 30, 12 12:41am

Gueye (QPR, £6.5m), B. Oviedo (Cesena, part exchange) Top Scorer: Adrian (15 league goals) 2012/13 In Review A hugely successful season for Everton, but one which nonetheless ended on a note of disappointment. A busy transfer window saw a number of high profile departures, including Tim Howard, John Heitinga and Nikica Jelavic, replaced by players such as 18-yr-old Italian full-back Mattia De Sciglio, free agents Mikael Forssell and Mika Vayrynen, and on-loan midfielder Robby Brady. Ultimately unsuccessful attempts at signing Fernando Torres from Chelsea and Mirko Vucinic from Juventus were followed by the signing of Atletico Madrid forward Adrian for £11.5m. The novice manager's sweeping changes were cast in a harsh light by a poor start to the season, with just one win in six league games, which included heavy defeats by Manchester United, Wigan and Swansea, and an early exit from the League Cup at the hands of Wolves. Results picked up as new players began to bed in and as the manager's techniques began to be accepted. A stunning string of results began with a 4-0 thrashing of QPR, and continued with a 3-0 win at home in the Merseyside derby and a 5-0 rout of Spurs. Between November and January Everton rose to 3rd place, recording wins (and clean sheets) against Chelsea, Manchester City and Newcastle along the way, but January was tougher, with an early exit from the FA Cup at Exeter preceding a run of four winless games which saw the chasing pack catch up. April defeats to Spurs and QPR saw Arsenal and Manchester City overtake into the Champions League places, and Everton couldn't claw back the advantage, claiming just one win in the last three games, to finish 5th. Season highs: Everton 3 Liverpool 0, Everton 5 Spurs 0, Manchester City 0 Everton 1, Everton 1 Chelsea 0 Season lows: Everton 0 Manchester United 3, Everton 1 Arsenal 3, Wigan 4 Everton 2, QPR 2 Everton 1 (league), Everton 2 Wolves 4 (League Cup 1st Rd), Exeter 2 Everton 1 (FA Cup 1st Rd) International Management A late season offer to manage Scotland part-time was accepted, although the opportunity to turn around a failing World Cup Qualifying campaign was limited. Scotland lay in third place, three points off of second-placed Sweden, with four games to go. The first games facing the new manager were daunting away fixtures against Germany and Sweden. A tight, organised performance against Germany kept the match goalless, despite a missed Scotland penalty, until the 79th minute, when Jordan Rhodes stabbed home a low shot to put Scotland 1-0 up. Germany equalised five minutes later through a Mesut Ozil header before Charlie Mulgrew turned in a Charlie Adam corner in the 87th minute. Germany surged forward, winning a corner which was converted by Mats Hummels to leave the Scots proud but disappointed. A 1-1 draw for Sweden against Greece meant that Scotland could still overtake with a win in Stockholm. Charlie Adam put Scotland in front from a penalty before Albin Ekdal scored from a fine volley, leaving qualification for Scotland still possible, but no longer in their own hands, with games against Greece and Northern Ireland remaining.
