Pirlo's little feints, no-look passes, back-heels, stepovers and roulettes aren't just for show, they're a demonstration of superior ability. like mentioned in one of my previous posts, if you think all Xavi does is pass, pass, pass, then that just shows your sheer ignorance, but I've already picked up through all your posts that you probably don't even watch either player on a near regular basis, I'll be surprised if you've even watched one Serie a game all season, because it certainly doesn't sound like you have. the difference between you and I is that I can appreciate and admire both players, whereas you're just trying your hardest to make Xavi sound average or at least as though he is far inferior to Pirlo, which again is completely laughable. if you wanna keep riding the Pirlo bandwagon like all the other kids who have suddenly realised he is a more than average player after appearing a couple of times on the BBC, please do so, but don't continue with this contrived bullshit that he's suddenly the best player in the world, next you'll be saying he deserves the Ballon d'Or...

	I like how you purposely left out a lot of my post, such as when I acknowledged Allegri had favoured Van Bommel in his system when Pirlo had started picking up injuries. But my point still stands, if you think Meelan's reluctance to give a 32 year old a 3 year contract who had started getting injured played no part in the decision, then you are the one who is incredibly naive. Ah, the old injury excuse. Juventus deserved the scudetto, full stop. You know full well the likes of Boateng, Pato, Nesta, Flamini, Gattuso, Aquilani are all injury prone. You can hardly expect them to stay fit for a prolonged period of time. This was a team that had finished 7th the previous season. Pirlo joins, is their player of the season, they win the title. Tremendous credit to Conte, but Pirlo is the catalyst. This is a team lacking quality in certain areas with workhorses like Vidal, Pepe etc. (Marchisio certainly isn't) but with Conte's tactics and Pirlo's brilliance they go undefeated. Yes Milan did regularly hoof the ball up to Ibra, they should be thankful he stayed fit, because he carried them for large parts of the season, superb footballer. Juve didn't exactly play free flowing stuff either, but they don't have a lot of flair, or a top class forward. But don't worry, they have Pirlo, who got the most assists in Serie A last season. Could Xavi have the same impact creating for Borrielo and co? Na, Xavi has the likes of Messi, Villa, Pedro, Sanchez, Fabregas, Torres etc. all extremely clever and mobile players with great movement. For someone of Xavi's ability, he's in dreamland. That's why I described all Milan's strikers since Sheva braindead, it was hyperbole because let's face it, all the players you mentioned either have terrible movement or mobility, or their legs were gone, see fat Ronaldo and Inzaghi. Ibra prefers the ball into feet. Now Imagine Pirlo playing in the defensively dreadful La Liga with Messi, Pedro, Villa etc all making runs for him. See where I'm going with this? Pirlo down the years has also influenced the outcome of football matches far more than Xavi, in the biggest games aswell, while Messi, Villa and Iniesta have all outshone Xavi in the biggest games. Anyway, I digress. I found your last paragraph rather odd, did you not see me mention to another poster that there is very little between the two players, and with Scholes are the best 3 of their generation? I guess not. FWIW I don't have an agenda against Xavi, I just feel he is overrated is all, and that Pirlo is the superior player. Cool debate anyway, I would be grateful for a decent reply.

You can hardly expect them to stay fit for a prolonged period of time. for what happened out on the pitch, yes Juve deserved the title, the table doesn't lie, but that's irrelevant to my point, my point wasn't that Juve didn't deserve the title, it was Milan would probably have won it had they not of been plagued by injuries. you can call it an excuse all you want, but players like Boateng and Flamini aren't injury prone players, and don't think anyone can say too much about Cassano for obvious reasons. yes, every team picks up injuries, it's part of the game, but Milan were desperately unlucky with them and most people in Italy acknowledged the impact of Milan's troubles on the final destination of the title. it's a miracle they even finished second the point also has to be made that Milan were playing on two fronts, domestically and in Europe, having to cope with midweek CL games. Juve's unbeaten run was more down to their defence than Pirlo, the switch to 3 at the back, along with the rebirth of Andrea Barzagli. yes Pirlo had a fantastic season, but he's one player in a team, the defence of Buffon, Chiellini, Bonucci and Barzagli was just as important in Juve's season. Serie A is still the hardest league in Europe to score. Robinho is shit and Pato is a crock. He was carrying Milan last season, and failed to win the domestic league for the first time in 8 years. A truly great player, up there with the best of the last decade, but rightly won't be rated higher than Sheva. Zlatan hasn't got anything on him in Europe, superior performances in the CL makes Sheva more of a European legend. Plus, he was the better player. I don't care how technically talented or incredibly consistent Ibra is, he isn't as effective at maximising and applying his ability and influencing the outcome of matches as Sheva was.

	Giroud, Kagawa, Hazard (both of them), Powell, Robinho, Pato (crock), Wilshere (injured for a year), Bent (he isn't as fast irl as in FIFA), Messi (he doesn't use skill moves so should not have 5*), anyone in the Spain team except Xavi. Of course, the worst offenders are the Classic XI. I know it's kind of the point that they all have amazing stats, and they were all great players, but only a few of them can truly justify those stats, when compared to modern players, especially considering the likes of Pele, Maradona, Zidane and Baggio are missing despite being some of the greatest players to play the beautiful game. I mean come on, Roger Milla did great things at the 1990 world cup, but is he really better than David Villa or Samuel Eto'o? I think not. Rant over

	Wilshere is still England's best midfielder. How much impact his time out will have remains to be seen, but he should be rated on his quality, not ifs, buts and maybes.

Have to say I don't really agree with you on Pato. He only managed 17 games last season, and in those games he only got 4 goals. Additionally, due to some problem with a growth spurt or something like that, he's lost quite a bit of pace as well. Doesn't warrant his current rating based on this season, should go down to somewhere around the 82 mark. C0N0RH_AFC I'd say it's more uncertain whether he wil be as good now as he was before. He has missed a year which would've been vital to his development, and after long term injuries players aren't normally as good as before, look at Eduardo for example.
