If affects it slightly (with usual ranges of TV sizes). If you played on a tiny TV and then one of the biggest TVs, you would notice quite a difference. I remember when I switched from my 28inch TV to a 42inch TV, I was playing on 2 but it was too slow on the bigger screen and switched to 3/4 but 4 was too fast and settled at 3. One of my friend's at the time had a huge TV, like half the size of a cinema screen and playing on his I had to have it way higher.
I guess I can understand where you're coming from as one of the reasons I hate playing games, especially FPS games, on big tv's (anything over 28"+) is that it requires me to actually move my eyes to see the corners and outer edges of the screen. With a small tv, I get to see everything instantly without having to move my eyes constantly as much.
Shame though because watching Blu Ray's on my aunties 50" OLED Vierra is digital porn.
