I thought the M16 didn't have the function to burst fire. Anyways, according the IMFDB the multiplayer it uses the Colt Model 606B for Multiplayer and Zombies when in campaign it uses the USAF variant M16.

What you said is true.
The M16 in Black Ops was the A1, however, it incorrectly fired 3-round burst instead of full auto.
(However, as most parts are interchangeable, I'm pretty sure it would be possible to use an A2 lower receiver, which would make it 3-round burst. I'm not too sure this would be a good idea, but it would be possible)
Also, it (and the Commando) uses the 20-round magazine in-game but have 30 rounds.

The A2 was the "overhauled" system. It had 3-round burst instead of full auto (to keep ammo consumption down), used by all branches.
The A3 was basically just the fully-automatic version of the A2, designed for SEAL and Seabee units.

The A4 is just the latest version, and is 3-round burst like the A2.

There's no such thing as the "USAF" version of the M16. It would just be one of the standard variants, used above. It was probably refering to the A2, which is still wrong, because the A2 doesn't appear in BlOps.
