Taking a break from the strategy trailers of the past week, SuperBot and Sony decided to officially announce four more characters for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. Still, you might have heard about them from various leaks across the internet, but now you get to see them in action: Ratchet and Clank, Spike (Ape Escape), Dante (Devil May Cry), and Sackboy (LittleBigPlanet). Another announcement was also made, where if you purchase the PS3 version of Battle Royale you will receive the Vita version for free.
Ratchet and Clank are a mid-range duo with a plethora of gadgets and weaponry at their disposal, dominating with angled attacks and a spaceship super ability. Spike is an all-around character who can hold his ground at any distance. He has plenty of traps bombs at his disposal, along with an ape army just waiting for direction. Dante, and that's modern remake Dante instead of old-school Dante for those wondering, is a high-mobility bruiser -- just as you'd expect. Hacking and slashing and combos galore are just a build-up to Dante's infamous Devil Trigger. Finally, Sackboy, who you have to imagine was hard to design. After all, he's typically heavily customized by the player. Not so in Battle Royale; here he's known for his quirky playstyle set to catch foes off-guard. Attack with various tools or poke away at enemies with some of Sackboy's unique skills.
Ahh, I should just let the trailers speak for themselves. After all, we have five of them: one for each of the revealed characters today and also an "All-Stars" trailer showing off the entirety of the current roster. There's more to come, of course, so don't feel like you have to settle on one character just yet. You have plenty of time before PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale launches this November.
