Me and my mate have started with the ML Defaults on the Superstar difficulty. We're in the English league in Div 2 with the made up PES teams atm. We agreed that we couldn't sign anyone in the first transfer window and that we couldn't sign anyone from our youth team. My squad is:

GK: Ivy
RB: Paccini
CB: El Mou.... yeah, you know the guy
CB: Jaric
LB: Macovshire
DMF: Voleiman
CMF: Myrheim
AMF: Gellazca
LWF: Aakoejburg
RWF: Headerboux
CF: Minandinho

However I often switch to a 4-1-2-1-2 diamond with Rustwyth joining Minandinho up top. Gellazca drops back to CM and Castolis takes his place in AMF.

Rustwyth is a player I really like. He has 87 for both shot acc & response and I don't think any other default has one stat that high let alone two. However he struggles if you play him up top on his own as he doesn't have the strength or pace to do so, he's literally only a finisher.

I've won the three games I've played so far. My mate has played two games, winning his first one and losing his next one 5-1 haha. It's really fun, I've always enjoyed using the defaults.

I dont think ppl who start with the defaults should use the youth team.. at least not for the first season.

It's just what I think, don't let it trouble you. I like to have a big struggle of a first season with the defaults and it's unrealistic that you'd just have such good players waiting in the youth team imo.

I started as the defaults and decided to do what you lot do (sign players from the youth team) and i'm 2nd in late january. like i said, too easy bros. playing superstar btw

Why did Konami get rid of wing backs?

I see you all raving about Ranger but I'm not sure I can bring myself to sign him seeing as I know how crap he is in real life.

Just started my 4th season with Wigan Athletic (played all of them on Superstar)

First season: Signed a few players from the Youth Team as recommended in this thread and finished in 2nd, winning automatic promotion. Went on a cup run but lost the FA Cup final 3-0 to Manchester United.

Second season: Finished 6th in the Premiership and therefore in a Europa Cup spot. Knocked out of the FA Cup first round.

Third Season: Won the Premiership, knocked out of the FA Cup 3-2 by West Brom in the Quarter Finals and lost the Europa League Final to Tottenham 3-2.

I've just started my fourth and here's my squad. I play an asymmetrical 4-3-3 with a LWF (Aartmen), a SS (Bérigaud) and a CF (Minandinho).

Forgot to mention Ballesteros, he's apparently a regen as well. Looked him up and he's a 36 year old centre half for Levante. He's come back with mega stats, way better than the ones he starts with at 36 lol

If anyone wants to know how well the youth players progress throughout the seasons... I can tell you. The answer is 'very good'.

Nouhei is currently rated 95 OVR
Aartmen is rated 98 OVR at LMF
Neillendner is rated 89 OVR in AMF and 93/94 OVR at RMF
Nomatokhalis.. or whatever his name is, is rated 89 OVR

This is at the start of Season 5.

For me, Wroughllen is 95 or 96, Nouhei is 101, and Niellendner is 97 I think...I'm in my 5th season...Not bad for some youth team products...

I got Farinos when he first showed up too, as I mentioned, and he's up to about 94 I think so far...I'll get some screenshots up when I have time to finish the season...

Did you not get Aartmen? He's now rated 100 for me.

Farinos is a prick, rather be at Levante doing f**k all when he could be with Wigan (me) winning trebles.
