Ehh I don't like the way they suggest you can control the height and power of shots/long passes more. Can imagine plenty of shots and long passes being sprayed miles off target much like older PES'. On the whole it does seem promising, I just want them to change the *bleep*ing defense from the Fifa-lite shit that I had to put up with last year. Completely ruined it because it was clear what direction they were trying to take it in (Fifa's), but they failed catastrophically imo.

Still, this is a good idea for a thread.

I think this should become somewhat of a definite news and updates thread, last year's announcements and news thread was, for the most part, wishful speculation. Would be nice to have, say, an index of updates re: news and features to do with the game.

yeah i've noticed a lot of long shots go straight to the middle of the goal, but i get quite a few go near the corners, or just really wide

I'm hoping the "manual" shooting is as good as it sounds. One of my main gripes with PES in recent years has been it's shooting, didn't feel like I had control over where to place the ball, always seemed to just end up on target and beat the keeper if you're lucky.

The other little changes sound promising but not sure if they're going to be good enough to convince me PES is back to it's best but can't fault them for trying different aspects, not just the gameplay but the overall feel of the game too.

long range shots are good when you have the long range drive card, with high shot technique, kicking power, shot accuracy.

but I like the fact that regular players aren't great at long shots because most players couldn't get a good shot from distance in real life. but players like Rooney, Nani, van Persie, etc. can do it.

I'm not worried about the accuracy, but some of the shots players took from distance, with decent shot power, still went at snails pace to the keeper. A pro footballer would at least be able to generate some power into his shot, despite the lack of accuracy.
