I agree with Gotenks. The more challenging a game is, the more you want to keep playing it and the more you want to beat it, so you can get a feeling of accomplishment at the end. Well that goes for me, at least.

I prefer about average challenge myself. If its too easy, its over with too quickly. But if its too hard, it becomes extremely frustrating and even stressful. Balance is everything.

As everyone has already mentioned, 3D Land was easy, and that's putting it lightly. I recall having somewhere around 90 lives by the time all the worlds were completed. Considering I'm not the best at these games, that's saying a lot.

On the subject of coins, I'm glad they're bringing it in as the focal point of the game to change things up. I don't think I'd be as willing to buy yet another New Super Mario Bros. game without something new along the way. This should offer a decent change of pace.

This really isn't too bad of an idea. Maybe you can even unlock World 9 as a whole after collecting 1,000,000. I could definitely see a world having a coin theme or something in this game haha.

Nintendo probably made the goal to collect 1,000,000 coins so it will have some sort of purpose in a Mario game. In the other games, the point of coins was just collect 100 of them and you'd get an extra life, that's it but if you give it a bigger role as an item, people will realise the point of coins. But, still, why would the goal of the game be to collect 1,000,000 coins if you can't get a game over:confused: That's the whole point of Mario games. You'd want to make not too easy but not too hard. But, still, can't wait for this game to come out:)

Nintendo themselves have already confirmed that something special will happen when you collect 1,000,000 coins. And I'm sure they won't tell us until someone actually gets there. Hopefully we get some good reward for doing it as it would seem boring if you actually replayed levels over and over to get to 1 million and it was a waste of time.
