Following their thoughts on how it would be "awesome" for next-gen consoles to implement an anti-used games system, Crysis developer Crytek has backtracked on their controversial remark.
Crytek's director of creative development Rasmus Højengaard clarified his comment to CVG:
"My comment made in the interview released on the 24th of April, touching upon 'blocking sales of used games', was not intended to be taken seriously nor representative of the opinion of Crytek."
As for what the public backlash was prompted by, Højengaard had initially stated:
"From a business perspective that would be absolutely awesome. It's weird that [second-hand] is still allowed because it doesn't work like that in any other software industries, so it would be great if they could somehow fix that issue as well."
The developer also recently said how consumers who like their games won't ultimately end up buying them due to piracy.
