You should be fine.
Start the battle off by using Power Break on Evrae with Auron, to reduce the damage from its physical attacks.
You'll want to Blind Evrae as well. Chances are that you have some Smoke Bombs (use them with Rikku's Use command in the Special menu). Note that using a Darktouch weapon will NOT be able to Blind Evrae, as she has a 50% resistance to it.
I wouldn't bother too much with Lulu in this fight. Evrae only takes 50% damage from elemental attacks, combine this with Lulu being horrendously slow, and you're just asking for trouble.
If Rikku has any Lunar Curtains, have her Use them on herself and the party.
You'll want to keep Rikku out at all times, as she should be spamming Al Bhed Potions just about every turn (these will heal as well as rid your party of Poison from Poison Breath).
Tidus should Haste himself and every character you bring out to fight. After that, have him use Delay Attack if he's learned it (he really should have by now).
Have Tidus, Kimahri and Auron use their Overdrives when possible (have Auron use Dragon Fang instead of Shooting Star, because it has a Delay effect). Have Kimahri use Seed Cannon when he can, it's twice as powerful as his regular attack.
If Wakka has a full OD bar, use Element Reels but don't have him match even two of the same element, as this will actually reduce the damage dealt to Evrae (50% damage from Elements), simply have him get three different elemental slots, and this will act as a more powerful regular attack. If he has Attack Reels, let loose with that.
Evrae's up close attack pattern is as follows:
Attack - Attack - Inhale - Poison Breath
There's also Stone Gaze, which inflicts Petrification (cure this immediately).
Stone Gaze is used once the "Stone Gaze counter" is raised to 6. The following attacks will have the following effects on the counter.
-Magic based attacks add one. -Strength based attacks add two.
Remember that Evrae won't use Stone Gaze on her Inhale and Poison Breath turns.
Evrae will use Haste on herself when her Hp depletes past the 10,650 mark.
Note that she won't use Stone Gaze once her Hp is below this mark either, unless you bring her Stone Gaze counter to 6 with the same attack that brings her Hp below that 10,650 mark, then she'll use it her next Attack turn, and refrain from using it from that point on.
Hope that helps.^^

Yes, that does help--I'm thinking my smoke bombs are gone at the moment; any more available? How about the use of Wakka's Dark Buster attack--will that work?
Recently I bought a good printed strategy guide, and I'm stunned at all the things I simply didn't know existed!
PS: Why is 'Ultima' blocked by FOUR Lvl 4 spheres? If it's that valuable, where do I nab some Lvl. 4 spheres?

quoteHow about the use of Wakka's Dark Buster attack--will that work? Yes, Dark Buster will work (completely slipped my mind), it has a 255% infliction rate, so it will work every single time, (as will Dark Attack, 50% of the time). Remember though, that the Blind effect from Dark Buster will only stay for a single turn (of Evrae's). Blind from Dark Attack will last three turns. Blind from a Smoke Bomb will last seven turns. You can't get any more Smoke Bombs at the moment. quoteRecently I bought a good printed strategy guide, and I'm stunned at all the things I simply didn't know existed! Let me guess, BradyGames or PiggyBack? Printed guides tend to not have a whole lot of information in them. They help, but they rarely go in depth with battle mechanics. quotePS: Why is 'Ultima' blocked by FOUR Lvl 4 spheres? If it's that valuable, where do I nab some Lvl. 4 spheres? You can't get Level 4 Key Spheres for a while. You found one in Home, you'll find another while climbing a certain mountain later on, and some of the later bosses will drop them after being defeated. You won't get them for a while though.

Two words:

Evrae Dead!!
And, in only two attempts!
First time, the party all got KO'd because I didn't have the sense to withdraw at the right time...poor Kimhari! Had Evrae down to less than 5K points, then along came the Swooping Scythe...OW!
What saved my keister on the second attempt was falling back at the first chance when Poison Breath was coming--ended up getting missed by that attack at least twice as a result. But, with all the Al Bhed potions on hand, and starting out the fight with everyone in Overdrive plus Auron's Power Break,(he did 1500 pts. damage several times!) I got through it okay! *does the happy dance*
I wish to express my gratitude to all the folks who've replied so far with ideas and advice; and, to those folks who worked so hard on FAQs and strategy pages. I seriously would NOT have gotten this far! *bows*
Yes, from what I've read...it's only going to get harder from here on out. But, if I can finish Ninja Gaiden Black on the Xbox, hey, I can finish this game!!

The Knight's Lance? Eh...really it isn't that great. It'll add a good boost to Kimahri's physical damage output, but is easily outclassed by his Celestial Weapon, or any other weapon with better abilities. You could add Strength +20% to any other weapon, and it would instantly outclass the Knight's Lance.

It is impossible to get Level 4 Key Spheres at the start of the game without a cheat device. The first one you can find without cheating is in Home.

I just found out that I am a FFX-o-holic in denial. I never played any FF games before nor know of the story line. But mmy freind told me about the final fantasy series and let me play a segment in his copy of FF-XII and I was hooked. I have $38 in my pocket more than enough to buy a copy of FF-X.
Tell me.
Is it good?
Is there a free roam environment?
What is the airship...can you fly it?
is the battles you encounter just turn based?
When you find enemies, do you get teleported to a battle field or do you fight on the spot?
What happens after you finish the storyline, can you run around the map finishing the side missions or the game just ends and thats it?
I would be more than grateful if anyone could answer these questions...
Thank You

Don't ask this question on a board especially for this game, everyone will tell you its good. Personally, it's shares a place as my most favorite game ever with SMT: Nocturne.
Is there a free roam environment?
Nope.
What is the airship...can you fly it?
Yes, the airship is for that, flying. You get it for usage rather late after you're done with around 85% of the story line. It allows you to travel instantly to all the places in Spira
is the battles you encounter just turn based?
Yes, the game employs a turn based system called the Conditional Turn Bar, or the CTB. It's not your everyday turn based, as there are a million tweaks in it. Like Tickspeed, Ranks, and the such.
When you find enemies, do you get teleported to a battle field or do you fight on the spot?
Teleported to a battle. Just like in the older FFs, not like FFXII
What happens after you finish the storyline, can you run around the map finishing the side missions or the game just ends and thats it?
You have can go around finishing all the side quests once you have access to the airship. There are a lot of side bosses (Monster Arena, and if you have the PAL/INT versions, there are the Dark Aeons and Penance as well). But, its strongly adviced to only do them after you beat the final boss (reload your last save then go back to do them), because other wise the last boss will just die in three hits (literally), and it will be extremely anti-climatic. You can do some of the minor side-quests like getting everyone's Celestial weapons, but the ones that require stat maxing should wait till the last boss has fallen. Answers in bold.

Doin' the Highbridge Tango! 8-)
|
Got past the Via Purifico, defeated the underwater boss, and am now doing what I can on the Highbridge to get my party leveled. Dratted cannon machina killed two of my aeons with two hits each! (Yeah, yeah, I forgot to use Shield)
So, it's time to do some level grinding...going to take a bit to get Lulu some -ga level spells, but I know those machina on the bridge are vulnerable to fire spells so it'll be worth it!
Poor Kimhari still isn't doing too much damage with his physical attacks, so I'm REALLY trying to get him built up!
*thus endeth the latest Mushroom Samba progress report!*
