Good armor

Tidus has got a Tetra Shield. This is the customization:-
Auto Regen
Auto Phoenix

What should I add in the two empty slots?

P.S - Ribbon is too tough! 99 Dark Matters which are rare drops and I have only 5!

I do plan in fighting the Dark Aeons, but not now as I am too weak. Ordinary Tidus damage is 32 k. Ordinary Auron -22 k. Wakka - 9999(no celestial weapon i have for Wakka yet.) And I have the PAL version. For now I just want 'general' armor like which will aid me in general enemies. So? Refining required right? Post soon. And people say Auto Med is crap, so is it really necessary? And I don't want to remove my Auto Regen.

Auto med IS crap, annoying and waste of slot.. IMO. Equip Auron with celestial and you have first strike so there's no problem against malboros, and if you want to be double secure; customize armor with confuseproof and keep remedys always with you.

Don't customize your tetra shield with anything "expensive" NOT WITH ribbon at least, its waste of dark matters even if you could gather 99 of them. If you want good "general" armor ribbon is the only way to go, but its expensive like said. Auto regen and confuseproof will serve you good until you get ribbon armor from dark aeons.

Just lvl up like madman. get 200+ strenght, accuracy and agility at least for one character. Then fight dark valefor until it drops armor with break hp limit and ribbon and two slots. Customize that armor with hp +30% and hp +20% to get full hp. Or hp +30% and auto phoenix or auto regen, its your call.

Just remember to fight and soft reset until you get BHPL + Ribbon + 2 empty slots armor, it might get frustrating. It took me +40 fights on dark valefor to get solitude for auron. And dark ifrit dropped ascalon for kimahri on first fight. And for dark shiva you need wery high luck due to hers high evade.

Dark yojimbo is peace of cake and you can fight him unlimited times and keep all the drops, just save and leave the cave before 5th fight. And you don't need break hp limit for first dark aeons, for example you can customize armor with fire eater against dark ifrit so theres no problem. Just remember to summon aeons to take overdrives on them.

I assume youre meaning auto-phoenix? Auto-med doesn't help you at all if you die, infact when he "zombifies" you, auto-med only deals damage on you.

Is generally the best armor in the game. Break HP/MP is a huge waste, and to max out your HP, you have to waste two slots on your armor.

Break mp-limit is a waste, but i don't totally agree with break hp-limit. After all it's up to you wich way you choose to customize youre armor. And you play the game way that fits you best.

I have one save with 3-4 ribbon armor for each character (i love farming DY).
I have customized them with many various possibilities. No matter what armors i choose i get killed very rarely, usually it's cause i didn't pay enough attention to turns..

But i think my favourite armor is:

BHPL
Ribbon
Auto-Phoenix/HP +30%
Auto-Regen

After all, when you have maxed out every character it really doesn't matter wich armor you have. Except ribbon is a must againts penance..

it would work if you only have holy waters instead of remedys.

Farming dark yojimbo is a nice idea too x) i have had some lucky fight sequences, but he tends to drop LOTS of ribbon+curseproof and that drives me nutters!
I usually replace auto-phoenix with auto-protect, even in ribbon armors. And BHPL for me is a must. But for penance I think I will go for a different strategy... Maybe

Auto-protect/defense+20% (with rikku's hjyper mighty G i can get protect on everyone)
Auto-potion maybe, since I won't use BhPL, or auto-phoenix and simply use megalixir
Ribbon
Auto-haste

I had something similar for dark bahamut, except only tidus had ribbon and wakka and rikku had stoneproof.

Am still thinking. After I get another armor with ribbon and 3 slots for my main crew I might make another save to test the armors against penance, see what goes smoothly.
