Well, I've just went berserk and spent three nights reading FFX stuff to solve some questions I had about the history.
I will list them and would appreciate if the community members could contribute telling in which ones they agree and in which ones they do not, explaining why in that last case.
Warning: Spoilers ahead!1) If Sin's primary objective is to protect Dream Zanarkand, why did he attack it at the beginning of the game?Jecht was still struggling the possession of Yu Yevon and managed to control Sin in order to drag Tidus out to Spira mainland, destroying (parts of) the city in the process.
Also, since Dream Zanarkand is a summon just like an aeon (and its Fayth is intact), Sin could just resummon it in case of any damage, just like a defeated aeon can always be called again.
2) How Jecht ended up in Spira?Since Dream Zanarkand is in fact located in Spira (summoned far out on the sea, on an Island near Baaj Temple), Jecht could have been drunk and drowned while training, being drifted away to Spira's mainland shore. I do not recall the game stating that he did came in contact with Sin and then being transported to Spira by him. Also, why would Sin do that anyway?
3) Why Sin doesn't unsummon Tidus to prevent his actions?Again, Jecht is still striving to resist Yu Yevon possession, doing whatever he can to help in his destruction.
4) Did Tidus, Jecht and all other post-war inhabitants of Zanarkand in fact existed?Actually, no. When Zanarkand was attacked by Bevelle, all the real citizen were transformed by Yu Yevon on the big Fayth wall located on Mt Gagazet, ending with the lives of them all. So, Zanarkand was destroyed and Dream Zanarkand was summoned simulating Zanarkand, resuming its history from that moment on in the form of a dream, as if the war never occurred. I agree with the idea that there were no time travels in FFX.
5) Since Zanarkand was a city of summoners and aeons, why was Tidus surprised with them on Spira?Dream Zanarkand was not like Zanarkand. Sin made so the citizen would think that their city was all that ever existed, then they would have no need of summoners and aeons as they were the defenses of the city. Also, that way they would never try to explore the ocean.
For now, that's it.
I hope that this post can also be useful helping others to better understand the history.
