 January Update - First Season Bundesliga  At the halfway point in the German Season Simon Andersson's Mainz team are safe in mid table but over at Augsburg Sergei Dravinski has some work to do in the coming weeks as Augsburg are caught up in the relegation battle at the foot of the table. Sergei Dravinski - Since joining the struggling Bundesliga side Sergei had made 12 first team starts aiding the team with 3 assists putting in 28 tackles and achieving a superb pass completion rate of 80% while breaking up play with 28 tackles for the team. Unfortunately playing for a struggling team was always going to take it's toll on Sergei's overall game but he has a solid Average Rating of 6.50 over the 12 matches. Simon Andersson - Simon has managed more appearances in the Bundesliga than Sergei but he did join his club earlier and in doing so has managed 12 starts and 6 substitute appearances for Mainz. In those games Simon has grabbed 5 goals for his new club, solid numbers for a new striker but he will hope to improve on them in the coming games and help push his average rating up from 6.58. Simon Andersson vs Sergei Dravinski - Mainz and Augsburg have met twice this season in the Bundesliga but the first time round Sergei had not yet joined Augsburg as they lost 1-0 to Mainz, In the rematch however with both Andersson and Dravinski on the field it was Augsburg who ran out as 3-1 winners to keep their hopes of avoiding relegation alive. Championship  Arwel Thomas - The decision to join a Championship side has paid off for Arwel, he has gone on to make 32 starts for Wolves so far this season in all competitions providing 16 assists for his team mates and achieving the best passing completion rate of all the Academy graduates with 82% as he helped to propel Wolves to the top of the Championship table where they will now hope to take home the title. Arwel has made 679 passes so far this season and isn't afraid to put his foot in as he also made 60 tackles giving him an average rating of 6.81. Ash Harbin - Blackpool have struggled this season and find themselves down in 17th place in the table, The young keeper has found himself a little exposed in the Blackpool goal as his defence has been poor all season meaning Harbin has conceded 16 goals in his 13 games so far this season but he has managed to keep 3 clean sheets which is a good effort in a struggling team. He has a 6.44 rating. Almighty God - Burnley have been overachieving this season and find themselves in the playoff places, Almighty has certainly been a major factor in this as has made 37 starts for the team in all competitions while finding the back of the net on 16 occasions and grabbing 5 assists earning himself 4 Man of the Match awards. Combined with his 23 crosses all this has given him an impressive average rating of 7.02. Kirk Mackintosh - The play-offs may just be out of the reach of Cardiff City this season which will be a disappointment to their young striker Mackintosh who has bagged himself 7 goals and 6 assists in 14 starts for the team while making a further 4 appearances as a substitute. Mackintosh has been used more a complete forward for the team this season as he has been tasked with not only scoring goals but providing them for his team-mates, something that he has so far taken to very well attaining an average rating of 7.47. Matt Burn - With the playoffs only 1 point away, Matt Burn will be very pleased with his season so far and even more pleased with his performances for the team. Although he has made only 11 appearances for Watford so far he has been solid at the back when needed putting in 35 tackles yet he has also performed well going forward putting in 10 crosses to give him 3 assists and one Man of the match performance. coupled with his 75% pass completion percentage Burn currently has an average rating of 7.03. Nathan Holmes - It took Nathan a long time to sign for a club and it then took him a while to make his first appearance, so far this season he has only made 5 starts for 14th place Huddersfield completing 75% of his passes laying on 2 assists for his team mates in the process, he will hope to improve on his 6.74 average rating in the rest of the season. Ash Harbin vs Almighty God - The first our of Championship Academy derbies in the report does not disappoint with 5 goals being scored, In the end it was God's Burnley who came out victorious in a 3-2 win over Blackpool. Ash Harbin will not be happy with his own performance as he conceded all three goals for Blackpool including one scored by Almighty God. Matt Burn vs Almighty God - God features again here but this time the result did not go his way as Matt Burn's Watford side managed a 2-1 win over Burnley, Burn put in a strong performance and some will say he should have been awarded the Man of the match but God won't be too disheartened as he did manage to get on the scoresheet. Premiership  Oscar Hult - Oscar will be a little annoyed with his teams current place in the table as Swansea are lingering around the relegation zone. So far this season he has made 11 starts and 8 substitute appearances for the first team grabbing just the 1 goal and 2 assists. He has managed a pass completion record of 76% but he was also shown a red card in a crucial match against Norwich City leaving him with an average rating of 6.58 that he will aim to improve in the second half of the season. Phelix Brown - Phelix has not enjoyed his time so far at West Brom as he has only made 2 starts and 1 substitute appearance in which he has 1 assist from 3 crosses leaving him with a dismal rating of 4.9, rumours are linking him with a move away from the club in the summer. Ravi Parmar - When he chose Sunderland over the other 15 clubs that he chose to reject Ravi will not have expected to be bottom of the Premiership at the end of Janaury, they are currently 7 points away from survival and on current form look doomed to relegation. Parmar has been given 20 chances for Sunderland but only starting 11 of those games grabbing 3 goals and 3 assists for a rating of 6.79 as he completed just 68% of his passes. Ravi Parmar vs Oscar Hult - The rematch - It's not all doom and gloom for Parmar though as he had a chance to gain revenge for his teams 4-1 loss to Oscar Hult's Swansea earlier in the season. In the end it was Parmar who was the decisive factor as Hult was powerless to stop his side losing 2-1 thanks to a goal from Ravi. La Liga  Andres Martinez - Martinez will be upset that he has not been give more chances to prove himself at Mallorca as he has made just 9 appearances and only 4 of those coming as starts. When he has played he's managed to attain a completion rate of 70% for his passing game giving him a rating of 6.64 but he has been unable to grab a goal in those games. Busi - Busi has featured 15 times so far for La Liga overachievers Betis as they currently sit in third place in the league and look set for Champions League football next year, he's managed 3 goals and 2 assists while also taking 1 Man of the match award to give him a rating of 6.62. Waka - Waka has put in 19 first team starts for struggling Levante to try and claw them away from the relegation zone, Managing 15 assists and a completion percentage of 81% Waka has performed well but he will be worried about the 31 fouls he has also put in this season dropping his rating to 6.85. Busi vs Waka - High flying Betis played hosts to struggling Levante as both teams showcased their IA Academy players, The day belonged to Busi however as he set the new Betis record for fastest goal ever scored for the club as he slotted home past the stranded Levante keeper after just 22 seconds. Levante and Waka were on the back foot from that point on and never really recovered. Sweden Per Lindholm - There is no news to report regarding Lindholm as it is currently the Swedish off season. Luis Morales - Morales however has been off representing his country in the Central American Nations Cup. Morales was given the honour of Captaining his country in this competition as they managed a respectable 3rd place in their group behind Costa Rica and Guatemala. Panama were then drawn against Nicaragua in the 5th place play-off match which they went on to win on penalties after a 2-2 draw in normal time. Morales stepped up to take a penalty in the shoot-out and the captain will have been pleased to find the back of the net. Edit: Jan 13, 13 5:04am ------------------- | |
