 June 2017    Tottenham dominated the Premier League this season with their uber attacking strategy but they also found success in the FA Cup as they not only managed to win it but they did so while setting a new record for goals scored in the competition, They could not however make it past Juventus in the Champions League knockout round so they will be slightly disappointed with their inability to make an impact in Europe but there is always next season for that. Luis Morales - Morales has been in superb form for Tottenham this season scoring 22 goals and providing 7 assists for the league winners to take home 7 man of the match awards in the 41 games he played for the club. It was a perfect debut season at his new club but Morales also found time to perform for his country and to break more records while he was doing it. Almighty God - It was a fantastic season for God despite being injured early on in the campaign, he went on to find the net 30 times for Spurs in 39 matches as he found himself named the English Footballer Of The Year in a season where he was once again the Top Goalscorer in the Premier League and where he set the record for highest Average Rating. Add to all of this his 10 assists and 12 man of the match awards and you can see why Tottenham were quick to tie him down to a new contract. Simon Andersson - Like his team mate God, Andersson also missed a large part of the season to injury but he came back with a vengeance for Spurs as he slotted home 20 goals in just 31 games for the club this season to help them take home the Premier League title, he clearly proved his worth to the club and as if 7 man of the match awards weren't enough he was also handed a new deal by the club.  Oscar Hult - Oscar was in fine form for United this season as his club may have underperformed in the league but they did defend their Champions League title in a season that Hult will no doubt be happy to look back on as he aided his team with 9 goals and 8 assists in 34 starts.  Ravi Parmar - Mark Hughes' Lovechild was in scintillating form for his despised club this year, He smashed in 23 goals and created 20 more with his assists in 56 appearances while finding the time to foul 154 times across the season as Sunderland lifted the Capital One Cup by defeating Burnley. This lead to Parmar being name the Players' Player Of The Year, after he broke the Sunderlands records for; Most goals, most Man of the match awards and for the most Assists.  Andres Martinez - Martinez had a solid season for Arsenal scoring 18 goals for them across 41 games this season but it is clear that the lone striker could do with some help up front to take some of the responsibility away from him. He was also able to add 3 assists for the club but he will be upset that he was only able to take home the man of the match award once this season. Nathan Holmes - It was a great first season at Arsenal for Holmes as he scored 19 goals this season to be the top goal scorer at the club this year in 42 games but he was also on hand to create 14 goals for his team mates earning himself 11 man of the match awards breaking the old Arsenal record and the respect of his fellow Premier League Players. Per Lindholm - Despite suffering a few injury set backs it was a very good season on the whole for Lindholm as he not only made his switch to Arsenal in January but he was also able to make a massive 146 tackles in just 30 games this year while adding to his worth with 4 assists and a rare collectors item as Per managed to bag himself a goal.    A pretty poor season by their own standards for Barcelona as the finished second in the league to Real Madrid, They were also knocked out of the Champions League again by Manchester United - this time in the Quarter Final and they failed to win any of their domestic cups. Arwel Thomas - El Plebbo will be pleased with his own performances this year as he appeared in 41 games for Barcelona this year, all of them starts, and provided his team with 7 goals and 3 assists but he was also very active on the defensive side of the game putting in 97 tackles for the season and his assured technique on the ball gives him a pass completion of 89% which is once again the best in the Academy. Busi - It was a very injury hit season for Busi this year as he was only able to make 18 starts for the club with a further 13 coming as a substitute meaning that he was never able to really find his form, he did however score 9 goals and set up a further 2 more as assists taking home 2 man of the match awards but he will be looking forward to next season now. Waka - Injured and out of favour it was a poor season for El Stroppo who spent more time in his bar, The Somali Pirate, than he did on the pitch making just 3 starts and 9 appearances in total for his club this season. He did snag 2 goals but he will want to play a bigger role for his team than this and he is being trailed a number of clubs outside of Spain. Matt Burn - Burn will have been pleased with his move from United as he was immediately and consistently used in the Barcelona first team in the back half of the season making 21 starts for his new club and providing them with 2 goals and 2 assists. It was however on the defensive side that he he made a more telling contribution as he put in 99 tackles for the club and with his 81% pass completion he was always calm and assured in possession.  Phelix Brown - What can be said about Brown that hasn't already been said, he is clearly out of favour at Madrid where the formation does not suit the wide man who has made just 16 appearances for the season with only 7 of those coming as starts for the club where he has scored 5 goals and grabbed 2 assists.    Sergei Dravinski - It was a decent season for Dravinski in Portugal but he will have been dissapointed that his team was not able to take home the league title and after their loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League there was not much to play for this season but they were able to win the one of the two Portugese Cups as the tenacious midfielder made 25 starts for the club giving them 6 goals and 13 assists, his passing was assured with 86% of them making it to a team mate and he put himself about with 105 tackles being put in.    Kirk Mackintosh - PSG wrapped the league up early this season, giving them time to focus their attention elsewhere and they did very well to recover from their Champions League exit by taking home the Europa League in a 2-1 win over Russian side Zenit. They also took home the French League Cup with a victory over Bordeaux. Mackintosh was instrumental to all of this for PSG as he set a new record in the Europa League while scoring an Academy best of 37 goals and creating 9 assists in 51 starts for his club to earn himself 11 man of the match awards.    Ash Harbin - Harbin may be injury prone but he is certainly not error prone as he proved this season by keeping an amazing 23 clean sheets for Celtic in 46 games for them, conceding just 41 goals but it was not a perfect season as they were beaten in the Champions League by Milan in a game Ash missed through an injury that also meant he missed the League Cup Final win. Harbin was on hand to make a man of the match appearance in the Scottish Cup Final Victory over Partick Thistle and was subsequently named the Writers' Young Player Of The Year and quickly tied down to a new contract by Celtic. -------------------  | |
