neoseeker AGENT quarterly report

Last time we focused on the progress of young striker Anthony Simpson. In this issue we move onto Eric James, defender for Philadelphia Union in the MLS and a player looking to make an impression this time round in the league. For the 2012 MLS season so far (almost at an end), he has managed the following:

Eric has had an unlucky season in terms of injuries, especially the dislocated shoulder which just arrived from a bad fall. He later missed a couple weeks in July with a damaged heel but he will be glad to have seen his injuries pass for the latter stages of the season. Eric received some of the best news of his playing career when he was called up to the USA squad to face Luxembourg in a friendly in August. He received his first cap, coming on in the 76th minute to play a part in the 2-2 draw.

His performances have been impressive enough because it takes a good player to be called up when his team have not been playing well. With only a few games left it seems that Philadelphia will potentially finish with the least points, currently on a disappointing 24 points after 29 games. It is definite that we will not make the playoffs. Some will say that injuries to players such as to Eric have been a major factor but in truth they just did not play that well this season. However it can be said they looked defensively better with Eric James at the back.

The words of Fox Slator: It is disappointing to see how Philadelphia have performed this season but I must say that Eric James does not look like a player out of depth. He has shown glimpses of the strong ability to make him a key man and the fact he was called up to the national squad shows how well he has done.

The words of Eric James: It is disappointing not to get a full run of games due to injury. Dislocating my shoulder was very frustrating. We have had a bad season but we know where we went wrong and what to do next season. I'm sure we'll have a much better season in 2013.


Anthony Simpson: He's been looking good these past few weeks, even though Chicago also failed to make the playoffs. Overall he scored 6 goals in 14(10) appearances and I think it's been a good stepping stone season for him. His two games for the U20s have been fantastic scoring five goals in the games and really showing the potential he has.

Dominico Rodriguez: Been very frustrating for him and he seems to be showing bad signs at the moment. Cuiaba have been refusing to play him even though he could have been the player to stop the club from getting relegated. Should we wait to give him another season there or do you think it's best he moved somewhere else?
