	15: United escape trouble there as Younes Belhanda was adjudged of fouling goalie David de Gea in the lead up to what should’ve been Montpellier’s opener against United. 18: John Utaka is causing major problems with his pace, running at the likes of Young and Scholes, he beats them along with Hummels and Walker with alarming speed only to see his shot vanish past the post. 28: Montpellier deserve a goal for their showing here, it is Younes Belhanda who forces a save out of De Gea from the edge of the box. 31: That link-up play is simply out of this world. Shades of Yorke and Cole in Barcelona in 1998 as Rooney and Van Persie gift each other the ball, each in a more promising position that the last which leaves Rooney to fire the ball in from inside the area to give United an unlikely lead. MONTPELLIER 0-1 MAN UTD 39: Again, it’s Rooney and Van Persie who are expelling Montpellier’s dominance to insignificance. This one had a little fortune about though as Rooney played RVP in only for the opposition goalkeeper and defender to get mixed up, leaving RVP with an open net to slide the ball into. MONTPELLIER 0-2 MAN UTD 44: Montpellier are cursing their bad luck at the moment as Anthony Mounier was flagged for offside as he wheeled away in celebration, seemingly bringing Montpellier back into this contest. United can breathe again. 45: United are finally shifting up the gears, Rooney slides Van Persie in only for the Dutchman’s effort to be thwarted by the onrushing goalkeeper. 46: It’s taken 17 seconds in the second half and it now seems that United are home and hosed after a nervous first half. The pace in which Oxlade-Chamberlain frightens the Montpellier left-back is truly magical as he whips the ball in for RVP who misses but Ashley Young is on hand to net United’s third. MONTPELLIER 0-3 MAN UTD 50: Montpellier have been so unfortunate not to get a goal in this contest and Marc-Antoine Fortune really should’ve netted here as his one-on-one strike bounces off the post. 61: You have to feel for the French side here. Younes Belhanda attempts a long-range effort but De Gea is equal to it, pushing the ball onto the crossbar. 82: Rooney tests the goalkeeper from 30 yards after great movement from Kagawa to create space for the chance. That was United’s first real effort on goal since their third goal. 	27: A truly wasted opportunity from Christian Eriksen who cannot produce United’s opener despite carving the Sunderland defence open with a blistering run. His finish ultimately let him down, his effort skewing wide of the mark. 40: Vidic, who has won a couple of man of the match awards in recent games, went closest to breaking the deadlock in the half. Robin van Persie drilled a corner into the box before the Serbian defender glanced his header narrowly above the crossbar. 47: Adam Johnson almost has Sunderland into the lead early on in the second half had it not been for the outstretched legs of David de Gea which stopped his goalbound effort on this occasion. 62: Sunderland are getting closer to opening the scoring as the match continues it seems. Adam Johnson curls a beauty of a cross into Sebastian Larsson who whacks the post from an acute angle. 73: Ashley Young hits the post, akin to Larsson’s effort a couple of minutes ago from a deep Phil Jones cross. You have to feel that the first goal will be the winning goal in this contest. 82: What a perfect goalscorer that would have been, especially for this match. John O’Shea rises above everybody in the box following a free kick from Seb Larsson but O’Shea couldn’t direct his header goalward. 83: A promising breakaway is halted by Mats Hummels as the German takes out Steven Fletcher on the touchline, generating a response from Martin O’Neill and his staff. The crowd are baying for a red card and it is given to the German as United go down to 10-men with seven minutes left. 	Just had a read through this and I've gotta say it's completely brilliant. I like the layout for the match reports, it's looks pretty professional and so do the initial news reports, though on the latter I'm not too fond of the font but that's entirely subjective. 	1: After only 13 seconds, a newbie to this intense match – Christian Eriksen almost gets the opener as he delightfully chips the ball over the wanting goalkeeper, only for the ball to nestle on the roof of the net. 16: United get the start they craved in this match after the ball bundles itself to Christian Eriksen in the middle of the park who in turn slots the ball into Wayne Rooney who manages to clip the ball beyond Pepe Reina to net. MAN UTD 1-0 LIVERPOOL 44: Manchester United and especially Antonio Valencia escape punishment there as David de Gea saves from Luis Suarez’s penalty after the Ecuadorian cut down Jose Enrique in the area. 45: Suarez and Liverpool are almost instantly punished for that penalty miss when Nemanja Vidic hits the frame of the goal from a corner up the opposite end of the pitch. 45+1: You couldn’t say that this goal wasn’t coming. The exact combination which led to Vidic’s miss a moment ago struck once more as RVP’s corner was placed into the exact place the previous one did but Vidic made no mistake in tucking away his first of the season. MAN UTD 2-0 LIVERPOOL 46: What a way to hit back for the visitors. Oussama Assaidi got past Kyle Walker easily before placing the ball onto the back post where Stewart Downing would convert the cross into the United net. Game on. UNITED 2-1 LIVERPOOL 90: Luis Suarez booked for diving when Kyle Walker is involved in an incident with the Uruguayan going down in the box. He took a few games to blend in but he's amazing so far (I'm at Boxing Day as we speak), puts in a real good shift, gets plenty of balls into the box. Was surprised by him, took a gamble on him for 28 million when I could have had a more sensible buy in Arturo Vidal in the middle, he can wait for next season though.
