If you haven't heard of Hawken before, you just might watch to check out a gamplay trailer -- the game is beautiful in motion. When this indie's first trailer landed, it came from left field and left everyone who had watched it in awe of its style and design. It's a first person multiplayer mech combat game done right, with grit and motion blur and neon light on dull metal. Just for E3, Hawken has a new live-action trailer that's sure to get fans excited.
The trailer, by Gears of War's creative director Jeremiah O'Flaherty, is a mixture of live-action, CG, and in-game footage. It's a teaser for a series of digital shorts to help build a wider universe around the Hawken game. After all, it's going to be free-to-play with microtransactions, and an expanded universe is a hard thing to deliver without a single-player campaign.
We have faith in Hawken and its developers Adhesive Games to deliver. The game is being published by independent publisher Meteor entertainment, who recently received $10 million from Benchmark Capital and FirstMark Capital -- original funders of League of Legends -- just to get Hawken out the door. You can register for the game's beta, or excitedly await full release on 12.12.12.
Hawken will be available for play at E3 this week, and you can see the game in motion on Twitch.tv's E3 stream each E3 day at 3PM PST. Expect some Neoseeker impressions soon as well.
