Take your first look at the now half-frozen countryside of Unova in the first trailer for Pokemon Black and White 2. The trailer includes our first look at the new games' main characters in motion, as well as their rivals and two gym leaders. Of course, the entire trailer is spoken in Japanese, but there really isn't much to say that you can't figure out on your own, right?
Taking place two years after the events of the original Pokemon Black and White, Unova doesn't appear to have fared very well. Likely due to the influence of the games' legendary Pokemon, the map is now covered in a veil of ice. Presumably, you'll be able to clear away the ice as you progress from gym to gym, allowing you to explore the entire map. Or maybe it's the other way around, and as you explore the places you visit are then covered in ice?
As with every Pokemon game, there's nothing particularly new or different to expand on. Expect more of that same, exciting gameplay, only in new exciting areas and in different scenarios. It's great to see GameFreak developing a direct sequel rather than updating and re-releasing the same game. It's a progressive direction that's refreshing and rewarding to fans who'd love to see more Pokemon as soon as possible.
Pokemon Black and White 2 releases in Japan on June 23, and will come to North America later this fall -- exclusively for Nintendo DS.
