discussion Well that was a mistake!

Just thought it might be a bit interesting if people mentioned what they thought the biggest mistakes in this game are. I should point out I don't mean glitches, I mean choices Ubisoft made that didn't enhance the game at all.

For me, my biggest one has to be the Encyclopedia of the Common Man mission. It was the most both the most boring and infuriating mission in the game in my opinion. I think Ubisoft decided to put it in there to show off how the AI works with everyone in the Homestead, that they spend they're day working and living without any involvement from the player. The only other reason I can think that they might have had to put this in is to have the player more involved in the Homestead and not just the other 3 areas (like how renovating Monteriggioni in ACII kept players returning home).

But if it was one of these reasons it was totally unnecessary. It only served to make me despise the Homestead people and they're repetitiveness and lazy tendencies and to make me hate traveling through the Homestead repeatedly.

I should repeat, this is not for glitches! Only things Ubisoft did seemingly on purpose that they shouldn't have.

Gameplay feel as clunky as ever maybe even worse.

• Character still have a bad tendency to take "the higher route" (i.e jump up on fences and crap when you just want to run bye on the ground). Having "run" = "free run" just make things harder and in the wrong way imo.
• Lots of getting stuck at low heights and low walls. Small jumps down easily tend to be "hang and drop" or sprint jump straight out into the blue, Character behave as if at a high unclimbable wall when running into something he should be able to easily jump over or sidestep.
• It's still (or again?) just Parry/Counter and Kill while enemies mostly just stand around waiting for their turn to engage.

I honestly don't remember any of the AC2,B,R having gameplay this bad/silly? AC1 kinda felt like this (just even worse).

Is it really worse now? or have my senses just been spoiled with fundamentally better game engines for running and climbing in other games since last I played an AC game?

Mistake 1. Keeping the 'recruit assassins' feature in the form it took. In Brotherhood and (to an extent) Revelations it worked. You sent them on missions to train them up, and you could call on them for help. I saw none of this in III. I only recruited one, and that was as part of a mission (that irritating French-Canadian). I never used him. They should just not have bothered.

Mistake 2. Making the bad guys an existing nation in a way it never was before. The developers claimed that the war between the colonists and Britain was a backdrop to, rather than the heart of the story. Not from where I stood. Connor was very much fighting for the colonists against Britain. Indeed, many of his targets were killed because they were British, not Templars. This would probably have soured the game for many British fans of the series. Maybe I'm being over-sensitive, but that's how it felt to me (an Englishman).
