ACI is apparently the "purest" of the Assassin's Creed games because you could create the path for yourself, according to Patrice Désilets, who created the Assassin's Creed franchise. I disagree, I think the purest of them all so far was Assassin's Creed II, arguably the best game in the franchise to date. ACI was riddled with problems and combat inconsistances as well as a dire control system - a terrible game to prove the how amazing this series is. Which is why I always tell people to, if they want to get into AC, start with ACII. ACI is wholly unimportant in the story of AC other than to give some information on Altair, who appears in ACR. Sure we're introduced to the likes of Desmond, Lucy and Vidic, but you get a sense of their characters during the events of ACII anyway, and if you're still confused, it's not like you can't read up on it online.

I don't, not like ACI, I just think it's probably the worst game in terms of story, combat and controls that exists in the series (excluding side-games for PSP and DS :P)

See I disagree, I think ACI's plot is fantastic. Everybody tied into each other, and the twist at the end was really good.
I think it was a great set up to the franchise, and ACII got the better battling system only because of ACI before it. :)

Though I did play ACII before ACI, and I agree that you can play without confusion. Maybe not if you started from Brotherhood onward.

It made my night because I was literally talking to my friend about how I couldn't beat you and then BAM. Mission not so impossible. 8D
