Alright guys, here's the skinny. This came from Hideo Kojima himself in the latest issue of EGM:

"It's like a little spell. There was this historical figure in Japan called Mr. Kuwabara who was afraid of lightning. So Volgin, with all his electricity, doesn't want any rain or lightning to hit him."

Yep, I was glad to hear that. It's also kinda ironic (spoiler) that with all that chanting to avoid the lightning, he gets struck and killed by it in the end (/spoiler). Kojima also mentions that the End's parrot is like grandfather to Emma's parrot in MGS2, haha. Kojima doesn't leave many stones unturned does he.

He thinks of every thing. Nothing left out unless its intentional. Like the holes in 1 and 2 being resolved in 3.
And both are right. I know Hideo said its the mr kuwabara legend. true. but it is also used as a phrase as already said "heaven forbid you be struck by lightning", and as you could guess it came from the Mr Kuwabara thing.
Also the parrot thing...its actually hinted at in the game. I believe when you kill The End(if you fight him, not snipe him in the wheel chair) the parrot is saying something about 'grandfather' in the background. Then it screams it a few times.
I don't know of any plot holes left. Your right, Hideo is so good becuase he covers all his bases, no stone unturned, etc. Everything goes so deep with him. Like the Time Paradox thing, if you leave the continue screen on Snake Is Dead turns into Time Paradox, becuz snake is Big Boss, and the Les Enfants Terribles project from the firt 2 games could not of been if he died. Same for Sokolov and Otacon. If Sokolov dies it says Time Paradox to represent the development of Metal Gear. At the end you hear Ocelot has Granins plans for it, since the shagohod failed its the next step, and who's it go to? Time Paradox, one cannot exist without the other. I don't know of any other game directors that not only hide so many things directly relating to the story, but go so deeply into the details of even such a complicated story. Its amazing. He really is a living legend of not only gaming history but IMO of storytelling.

well since the whole kuwabara thing is established and no one is arguing about it y dont we swtich to "la li lu le lo", some may say its just a code, but many others will say that hideo doesnt just do something for the hell of it, theres meaning in everything, so what is the meaning behind it?

anywaz i dont tihnk it was a joke in MGS3, i really do think la lu le lo means somethin else, u had a good explanation, but i tihnk it might b wrong, ill just fly to japan n hunt down hideo that asshole, has anyoen else heard waht la le lu le lo might mean?

I was only saying the Time Paradox thing was really an awesome little detail that Kojima put in there. And a lot of people never realize its there right in front of their faces. Notice how I was talking about Kojima writing in every little detail.

Ok, for the Patriots and La..... in MGS3 they tell you the patriots have been dead for a century. Theres more to it. MGS4 likely will resolve whats left. It has no real impact on the first three games because of the way it was set up, its not like a plot hole but more of a segway into the next game I'd guess. We know what goes on in the future because of MGS2 Sons of Liberty, MGS3 is a prequel obviously, so my guess is theres a little more to 2 than we thought, someone manipulating the patriots, who at least in the form we thought they were don't even exist, someone's pulling strings. Just like we thought 1 and 2 were resolved pretty well Kojima gives us 3 and expands on everything, I think 4 will likely utilize this tidbit and give us even more to the whole story plus whatever conflict is in 4. Yes the La.... was a password, but it was also a name. Pretty sure it was the code name the Patriots, or the Philosophers, used for the Legacy, and later used by a branch(possible an operational branch like someone said) of the Patriots/Philosophers(one in the same if you paid attention). I could be wrong becuz like I said, he gives you just enough where you think you know whats going on and then the next game will expand on it and throw a wrench in the whole deal. If I had to guess theres more to it becuz like everyone is saying, knowing Hideo this is tiny. There pretty much has to be more behind what exactly the La... is and how it involves the Patriots more directly.
Feel free to correct me if any of this info is wrong.

He's said for after the first(not really the first, there were 3 others for MSX and NES systems in the ole days) and the second(Sons of Liberty, again not really the 2nd game), that he would leave. Obviously he didn't. Also recently he said he would like to make games for the rest of his life and really enjoyed making Snake Eater. He even said he would continue making games as a ghost if he can lol. I don't see him leaving anytime soon, and besides this time he didn't even mention it whereas after each previous game he said he was passing on the torch and didn't. Also people in the media and even a few in the industry are throwing around the word trilogy a little loosely for some reason right now. Ratchet and Clank. Jak and Daxter. MGS. Splinter Cell. Nowhere have I seen the creators call these trilogies. Maybe in the sense that there will be no more on the current generation of systems(including MGS1 on PS1), and us having to wait for more until PS3 arrives, but I don't think any of the series mentioned will end after 3 games. All are far too succesful to just simply end after only three games, when games like Mario and FF are still going and still hold so many fans. Series like that have proven there is no lifespan for a series as long as you can keep fans interested. MGS3 I believe sold(or is climbing to) more units than either of the previous games. It won't end here. Also notice that the PSP is getting a kind of spinoff genre bending MGS game(AC!D). Meaning if anything the series is young and is actually expanding to a new audience even.

As for the Patriots/philosophers, they are the same. Yes they lost some members, but that means nothing. The game specifically tells you the Philosophers changed their name to the Patriots. They are one in the same. A group is still a group after losing a few members, it doesn't change what they are or who they are. So you were being picky, I see your point, but it doesn't really mean anything in the sense that the Patriots aren't really the Philosophers, becuz they are. Actually like I said, they didn't just lose members, they're dead. But until they died at least they were the same thing only the name had changed somewhere along the way. giving me an idea actually. What if when the philosopers died(we know they did either as the philosophers or Patriots) and the name changed to the Patriots, it was actually someone else pulling the strings. As I said they were dead by the time MGS2 came around but yet they were a central focus of the story, if they were dead how were they acting? Unless the Patriots are a continuation of the Philosophers death and someone else is in control, someone obviously not dead.
I dunno. Thats just a thought. But the first post was what I'm pretty sure of at this point.

Expect to see MGS4 for the PS3.
