Introvert or Extrovert - Page 4

Was linked here from my mate's forum because they're discussing this sort of thing, so... here's some of my delicious copypasta (does anybody use that term much if at all anymore??)

I'd probably say I'm an extrovert with a sort of ratio of 75:25%.

Like oftentimes, I'll need some alone time but it's not to recharge or anything - it's just because I don't feel like being with people at those points because I either run out of things to talk about or I just find myself getting more and more disengaged in their conversation due to it being a subject I find boring or not knowing much if anything about. I have my limits - for instance, I don't care about some party they went to and if the questions I ask don't lead to interesting stories or anything, it makes it worse for me. Having said that, I take no issue with just being with people, listening to what they have to say and whatnot. I might not be interested at times, but whatever, it beats sitting at home alone playing video games or whatever. If you disagree, then you either are introverted (which is alright as long as you can still move through your life without any emotional issues), or you have some social issues that need to be tackled ASAP. I've been through a bit in order to be who I am and although I could be a lot better, I've gotten to be a lot happier with myself and a lot less self conscious.

That's basically what it amounts to. Are you the way you are because that's really how you are, or are you hiding away from any significant problems? I spent the first 17 years of my life hiding and feeling sorry for myself, but then one day, I just went "enough's enough" and did something about it. I went from being a weak little girl to one who enjoys conversation about shit she cares about and isn't afraid to express her thoughts in the real world.

tl;dr - it's all about figuring out who you really are at the end of the day and solving whatever issues you have. Labelling yourself as an introvert when you're really hiding from your problems does you absolutely no favors in the end. I am not attacking anybody here personally and perhaps my theories are a bit on the wayward side compared to what you guys are posting - I'm posting this as a means of further discussion while getting my life story out there.

I've definitely always been pretty introverted, amplified by various circumstances through the childhood that I had...Over the last year or two, I've definitely become a lot less insecure about things though, so I've been able to exert a bit more social confidence if you will and worry about things less, so maybe I'm somewhere between the two now...Always been very self-reflective though, but now I try and enjoy life a bit more than worrying about it at least...
