Concerning the Neo Newspaper

Hey guys!!

So I've been talking with this secret group of select individuals, and we have been thinking about bringing a great idea back into action: The Neo Newspaper!

Member: "But that thing failed miserably last time, King! Why should we bring it back?! You guys are crazy!!"

Crazy? Yes, maybe. But we still want to give it a second chance. Our main focus, before even considering to appoint writers and editors, is to ask YOU, as a community, if you would like to see it brought back at all.

We really want to see this thing take flight again, because it has so much potential. The biggest issue last time was community involvement, and actually getting this thing popular among the community. So, therefore, we cannot stress enough how much the success of this newspaper depends on YOU guys having an interest in it.

If we have some dedicated members this time around, I really think we can create a newspaper that isn't only fun to read in your spare time, but informative as well.

Can I recommend that we use Google Docs instead of the Neoforums this time? Or at least attempt a different layout there? The old layout was nice, but I really like how Google Docs works as well, and I think it'd be nice. ^^' It'd give editors a VERY easy place to edit the entire newspaper with just a few clicks, and it'd be nicely organized. Just a suggestion, because I'm not 100% positive that it would work.

Edit: Oh, yeah. I'm willing to submit articles when I get the chance. =) Surely, with our new wiki project, I can get a few articles out about that.

Symphonic Abyss: I've used Google Docs for stories before, so I can confirm of its organization. A good idea indeed.

Dragonatrix: Our Neo Newspaper will have editors, so you don't need to worry too much about your contribution not being perfect. =)

While I can't really see this getting sufficient interest this time around either, I think it might be worth taking a step back and thinking of whether the idea of a 'Neo Newspaper' really has any merit in the first place. The entire idea seems somewhat juvenile, does the community as a whole really require what will essentially be poor man's journalism? There are hundreds of well reputed and well written websites that cover topics such as films and games in great detail already, what will make this Neo Newspaper so special that people would want to read that over what already exists? And please don't use the line 'it's convenient having everything in one single place', if anything, that suggests that each individual component will be weaker as a result when compared with a publication which would focus solely on one thing. Jack of all trades, master of none etc etc...

Our primary goal is simply to broadcast neoseeker work, etc. to members who may otherwise not see it. It was a more entertaining way of integrating different parts of the site. In no way shape or form are we attempting to rival other sites with reviews and whatnot.

I am unsure on how this is going to pan out. If we allow a good amount of people to submit to it then we should be fine. We shouldn't limit who can or cannot do it. Yes, we should still monitor their ideas and submissions, but not singlehandedly ignore them because you think they aren't good enough to support ideas purely because they aren't an average member.

I have never seen this Neo Newspaper before. So it's just random news that the members of Neo will be discussing? Sounds interesting.

Where has this ever been a problem?

We accept 100% of what we receive (within reason, ofc...), as the project is meant to broadcast members' work and not necessarily supply a pleasant, professional read.

Sorry, the post to your comment was in the Loungin' forum thread version. You were saying something about we are not going to pick just anyone. I understand that, but it was like you were treating it like someone was going to edit the website, some decent member, but you said to restrict them. I'll redirect you:
