Also to whoever threw out something about the European Convention of Human Rights, Liam Stacey breached the ECHR himself. Particularly Article 10 but there's a few more that he's arguably breached as well (3, 14 and 17 off the top of my head).

No its ironic cause I was told to keep it civil and not bring insults into this discussion. Therefore i'm not allowed to say what I want about you, because literally the only halfway positive thing to say about you is that you're stubborn. Not allowed to say what I want in a thread about freedom of speech = situational irony.

so this isn't a spam, i think it's a bit daft to jail him for 56 days, especially for something foolish like this (while he broke the laws in the UK, it's not as severe as, let's say, drunk driving). And it's not like people were being civil about the whole thing. Surely leaking his private information is considered as invasion of privacy. Or is privacy not protected under the UK law? and i'm sure he's been a targeted and abused by a lot of people, is he not protected by the government just because racial subject doesn't come into play?

There is definitely no sympathy for anyone who pulls this kind of stuff. People need to learn how much their words are. They tend to think actions are the only and words will only "defend" them or think it's not a big of a deal unless they are actually doing something about. People say these things to get a shock factor out of others to shun then or stun them. Either way, it's not right.

I believe his twitter account should have been deleted or his internet provider should have suspended him for a while. I don't think any block of text over the internet, short of claiming that you will commit a crime, deserves jail time.

A man was jailed for repeatedly mocking the deaths of 15 and 14 year old girls on Facebook. He posted images of coffins, videos and comments on a page where people were posting their condolences. Are you genuinely saying that because it was on the internet, he should not have been jailed?

For those of you who are still too busy arguing to notice: It is NOT "freedom of speech"

Sexual Orientation.

I know this is hardly academic, but I watch shows over here like Road Wars, in which people drink drive and drug drive (sometimes both) without a valid insurance or licence (sometimes neither). The vast majority of the time they get a small fine and their licence suspended, no jail time.

I agree this guys name should have been kept out of the media, he's already serving his punishment but I'll bet public scorn and bullying will be his worst. Some people may agree with that, but since he's not made any violent attack and is as far as we know, no direct risk to the general public, he's never going to be able to get over this.
