Red Meat / Poultry / Seafood / others - Page 2

I eat mostly deer and beef. I love seafood but I don't eat it much because the rest of my family hates it.

Also I tried crayfish for the first time last summer. It was amazing. My cousin and I had caught a lot of them and fried them.

I love, love, love seafood. Lobster, crab, oysters, clams, mussels, crayfish, mmm. The only problem is it's expensive and isn't as filling as red meat or chicken. Usually have to work at it to get to the edible parts too, but that's part of the fun.

I also love steak. Medium rare, cooked in its juices, that's amazing too.

I like chicken, but it's too easy to make it dry, bland, etc. Done right it can be amazing. See: Thai food. Those guys know how to do chicken right.

I've never had any game but I want to. Venison in particular looks amazing.

I never ate deer myself and I don't think I would want to. I'm fine with just sticking with my chicken and turkey.

While I do like to eat meat, I could never bring myself to kill the animal I eat the meat from.

I don't like red meat a lot, but I do love my burgers and steaks medium-rare. I know a place near my house that sells amazing sirloin burgers and brisket sandwiches. Seafood is my favorite out of the rest, despite it being expensive compared to the other 2. I can never have pasta without some shrimp. Chicken is great, though you have to cook it properly otherwise it's going to come out dry and tasteless which I don't have the time to do unless I got time.

I had a strange conversation along these lines with my mate, GF and brother the other day.

We all agree'd that we glaldy eat meat and would eat any hygenic and non venomous animal which tasted nice and was not rare or endangered, we were split on wither or not we could kill said animal. I believe i could kill, as long as I was going to cook and eat it personally and without waste.

However, none of us, not one of us could kill or eat a dog even though it is common in some asian cultures. I even compared it directly to eating a human, which is obviously an exajuration, but it does show the connection, i see eating dog as a betrayal for some reason.

So, a moral question airses when the animal in question is a dog. Is this a common feeling ? Is this maybe a Scottish/British thing ? A dog owner thing ? (which i am) Or do most feel the same ?

Yeah, i dont doubt thats a big part of it, so what do you non dog owners think ?

Also, i have owned a cat, fish, hamsters and gerbils wnd would probably have much less of a problem eating them. Obviously, i eat fish weekly. And cats monthly... joke.

Dogs just inhabit this special place for most people. Afterall, we created them.
