Is this game worth buying?

Ive been playing LOK defiance and Im looking forward to getting this one when I finish it, unfortunately Ive heard very little about it but the IGN review (which is not a good source anymore I mean, they gave LOK a 7/8 something because the spectral world effect made the reviewers relative feel dizzy and he didnt even mentioned the pretty faulty camera (!?)) so I want to hear from you, how cool is it? Ive heard is REALLY gory, is there a way to turn gore on/off when relatives are around? is it silent hill like? how is the shooting action? is it repetitive or boring? too easy, too hard? leemme know =) Im a spawn fan, I have played all its games, although I didnt collected all the comics.

re: Is this game worth buying?

Well after getting it and playing it, I have to say, It is cool although initially dissapointing, the graphics are almost at PS1 level, spawn is not glossy or has a cool cape (only when gliding), and the camera is pretty bad, however after playing it for a while it grows on you, the camera is easy to fix by pressing the R trigger, this makes the camera go back behind you so you can see what you are shooting at, the battle system is really simple but it gets more complex thanks to different weapons, powers and enemies requiring different strategies (this is namco remember? they do know how to make games) per example flying imps cant be hit with your axe so you will need to use either a gun or your chains (which is slow) to attack them, to balance this, some hell powers are powerful enough to destroy all enemies in one hit if used correctly, but do it wrong and you will be pretty vulnerable for a good ammount of time.
The enemies and background do get more interesting and the game gets more challenging and darker. The first time you check the dead scene (malevolgia reaching from hell and grabing spawn) you will get a quick glimpse of what the game is really about.. >

The game is not as gory as advertised, and definetily it doesnt look or play at all like DMC (get LOKefiance for that) but is no mario sunshine either, it does contain gore (you can rip apart a large enemy with your chains per example) heaps of violence and a LOT of satanic and (anti)religious content (just like the comic) make sure you (and those watching) are comfortable with that before playing.

While LOKefiance is most about solving puzzles to uncover the well crafted story and cinemas, spawn is about laying mayhem with combos hell powers and machineguns trying to discover the best technique to blast the new enemies that appeared. you wont care much about the story, you will just want something else to put in front of your guns and chains and rip apart >

Spawn is a game that came quite a few notches below the quality expected, but it still manages to be a furious blast of fun and horror. If you are not familiar with the spawn comic or movies it would be a good idea to give it a rental first, if you get quizzy or offended with RE or LOK this is definetily not for you, but for any fan this is the best game featuring spawn ever (without counting soul calibur 2) and a good action/horror game overall.

Final rating: 8 out of 10

q: worth getting.
a: If you are a spawn/horror/action fan, YES definetily, although I hope the sequel features a better graphics engine and models, However If you only can afford one game, you should check LOKefiance first.
