	Where did this inkling come from? The PM system is just that - a private messaging system. It isn't reserved for any specific discussion topic. It's simply for sending messages to people that you don't think should be posted in a public thread for whatever reason. 	Your inkling is pretty far from reality then, it was designed for topics and discussion that people wanted to have between friends. Eventually it evolved to support groups of friends and usergroups (neo newspaper). There's nothing more to it. -------------------
