Thread bumping?

There's nothing wrong with bumping a thread regardless of the length of time since it was last posted in. However, the way in which you bump the thread and the reason you bumped it, is what may cause the person who bumped it to get scrutinised.

As long as the person who bumped the thread is adding to the discussion and their intention is to continue the discussion, rather than just bumping for the sake of it. Another reason that an old thread being bumped might cause problems if there's a current thread on the same topic that's active and recently been posted in but a member opts to bump an much older thread for the sake of it.

Regarding your theory about "mini-mods" (often known as memberators), the members post count has no relevance to them acting like a moderator. If a member chooses to act this way, they'll do it regardless of their post count. It's possible you think these memberating only occurs in member's with high post counts because they post more frequently and therefore you'll see them doing it far more often.

To sum it up, bumping a thread is fine as long as you're continuing the discussion appropriately and "mini-modding" occurs regardless of post counts.

Although this member may be thinking they're doing the right thing, they are misinforming you and acting like a position of authority. Simply put, they're memberating, albeit on a relatively low level.

If you think the post in question (or any future posts) is breaking the site rules. Then you can use the report function, located in the lower right corner of the post box and looks like this: report.

If you're referring to content within the Super Mario 64 DS, you'd be better off informing Avalith of your concerns, as he's the section moderator for that forum.

Whether it's okay to bump a thread or not is a very situational thing, and people have different opinions on the matter. Take it up via PM with Avalith, and see what he thinks.
