Over seven hundred collectibles.

Took a look at one of the vids floating out there that showed the achievements, and some minor spoilers were in there so I wont post the vid, but one of the achievements is locating all seven hundred comic book pages throughout the city.

Im glad they finally did the collectibles like this, comic pages (like in Spidey 1 for the PS1) are so much cooler than just gathering shiny tokens or spider emblems. Hopefully there is a viewer like in Spidey 1 where we can better see some of the great cover art that has been created for these books over the years.

Other collectibles include Oscorp Manuals, and Hidden Tech Pieces. It didnt say how many of each one of those there were, but seven hundred comic book pages is pretty intense for free roam collecting.

I think Web of Shadows had around eleven hundred Spiders to collect, but they werent really hidden. You could just swing down the street and grab like ten to fifteen just swinging in a straight line for about half of the island.

Its definately cool to have some purpose with the free roaming other than just swinging around. I get pretty annoyed with some of them though when they are the basis for an unlock, and they are ridiculously difficult to find.

Or when theres really no indicator of where the collectible could be on a map that big.

For instance, Im missing one secret token in SM 2. Manhattan is HUGE. It could literally be anywhere, so I really dont even bother scouring the city for it. By the time I realize I may need a guide or else Ill never find all of them, Ive already screwed myself because I dont know which one it is that Im missing. Idont use guides, because then it just feels like a "go fetch" undertaking. Reading a book, and then running to go get the item is just not something I get into.

I really like the way that Arkham City did theirs, with it being broken up into sectors and an indicator telling you how many youve found of each in that area. It also discloses how many are there, so once youve found them all you dont waste any time searching where there is nothing to be found.

Or like in GTA:SA with the different types. You knew tags were going to be in the "hood", Oysters were gonna be in water, horseshoes were gonna be out by Las Venturas, etc... You had a general idea of where you needed to be looking.


Hopefully these wont be ridiculous to find, but not just smattered all over the play area like the Spiders were in WoS.
