all these screenshots look amazing. the one with the guy parachuting almost looks like a real picture. (i like it so much i have it as my desktop background, looks amazing) the urban area looks huge and the countryside just as big.

i cannot wait to explore this place when it comes out, with all the screenshots it seems like another trailer is not too far away.

im really glad we are getting a few shots every day of some new pics,here's hopign that next week we get a release date but i am calling it right now,i dont think gta 5 will be til april at the latest.

i dont think so,realistically the Ps3 has at least another 4 years of life left in it,even the 360 should have at least 3 years left in its cycle,they are just barely pushing the processer and the power of the ps3 and 360,microsoft will not release a new system on a whim like they did with the 360 in 2006 i believe it was (correct me if i am wrong) and with how bad that went over and the damn red ring of death,i just dont see it happening,at the least we may see perhaps prototypes of what the systems will look like and that will be about it.

as for gta 5 yea if we dont get a october release date and i seriously doubt we will,since its already late august,that doesnt give enough time to roll out a trailer and do all the other stuff,plus i tried gamestop last week and they werent even taking preorders for it yet and it wasnt in the system, so im definitly calling a april release date. which does suck but on the plus side for me it gives me time to buy a good size flat screen before it comes out.

These consoles are pushed to breaking point these days..

Developers for the last few years have been cutting corners to make sure games run on these consoles. I will use Call of Duty as an example as that is the biggest game of this generation.

Every game in the series, the guns get bigger. Now that could be an artistic choice, but it isn't. The guns get bigger because they block out parts of the scenery, with that scenery blocked it doesn't have to be rendered. This gives them a few more frames per second to work with.

Every game the field of view gets narrower. In Call of Duty 4 it was 75 degrees which is pretty damn wide for a console game. Fast forward to Black Ops 2 the field of view is 55 degrees. Narrowing the field of view means less is being rendered on screen.

Every game they have to opt for lesser and lesser demanding techniques. Call of Duty 4 used Multi-Sample Anti Aliasing to clean up the edges, Black Ops 2 just a simple Edge Detect Filter which isn't as good. What it is good for is giving them more frames per second to work with.

Now this isn't an isolated incident. It's happening to every single game. Developers are taking these shortcuts because the hardware is now failing to support their creative vision. Over the last few years Crytek, UbiSoft, EA and Epic Games have all come out complaining to Sony and Microsoft that new consoles are needed. They are the ones making the games and they know just how dated these systems are now.

Earlier this year a document from Microsoft leaked detailing their plans for next gen this document detailed a next gen console for next year. Microsoft have been planning, designing and prototyping for next gen since the Xbox 360 launched. Sony would have been as well, it's common knowledge that there are Xbox Next and Playstation 4 development kits out there.. There are even games coming to next gen. Watch_Dogs was announced for PC and other consoles, why say that if it's coming to already announced systems? Star Wars 1313 did the same, so did Fortnite.. Next gen is coming and it's coming next year, these systems aren't as powerful these days as they used to be.

Intriguing post, how do you think that the next generation consoles will compare to the high-end gaming PC's of today? Could GTA V be in development using a next gen console, hence the lack of release date thus far? It would be a bad move for Rockstar IMO, as less people will be able to afford the game, however, could there perhaps be an ulterior motive for them to bring it out on next gen consoles? Are MS + Sony offering them a deal in which would hugely boost the sales of next gen consoles, a deal which could include a huge fee for Rockstar, which would make up for the people who cannot afford to buy next gen?

It's an interesting theory, all will become clear in the coming months..

They are haha. Console games have looked just as good if not better, why do people see anything remotely good looking and think "must be PC" ffs.

I think half of the wow-factor is them using updated/new shaders and such, much like how ENBseries completely changes the graphics of the previous games.

But yeah, I have some doubt about these being console shots.

I think they might be console graphics, doesn't necessarily be PC just because they look amazing.

Rockstar sure have their sources to get the most out of Graphical eye candy, atleast for enviroments, I'm amazed with how Red Dead Redemption looks, mostly for the enviroments, the sky, clouds, sun shining through it, leaving a dust shaduw trail and stuff.

I think they went more ahead with the graphic engine since GTA IV.
GTA IV kinda was a beginning of Next Gen, most games are, they weren't sure how far to go, thinking that MGS4 brought out the most of the PS3 for it's time, but even that seems smaller then it should be, but the companies design new game and graphic engines over the years of experience.
Most notibaly the 24 hour cycle of GTA IV, Red Dead, and I think GTA V might be even better with that, it looked already amazing in the trailer that night sunsett skyline to finish the trailer with.

Consoles can be good with graphics aswell, like Heavy Rain for example, has great graphics, but terrible animations and acting, though.
