Yeah it's a bit of an inconvenience if you're going through the area, but at least it wasn't as bad as GTA II where you were getting rocket launchers aimed in your direction haha. GTA III had a problem with this because the Mafia would shoot you with shotguns, which made Saint Mark's really annoying to drive through after you killed Salvatore. 	But then maybe they could make sure that it doesn't get too inconvenient. They wouldn't recognize you if you're: In a car. Wearing a motorcycle helmet, or the burglary mask. They would only recognize you if you: Walk into any building in their territory. Unless you're wearing the above, or use stealth. Get too close to one of them, while not wearing the above. When you have their attention: "Hey, it's him! Get him!" There wouldn't be a massive crowd of them appearing out of no-where (like in GTA 3). Their numbers would be with in limits of reason and no heavy weapons. There would never be any of their vehicles spawning around you, like there are during the TBoGT drug wars, after you've gotten out of sight. You could get away very easily, but if you stay in plain sight at your last "known location" for too long, then they'll send a few cars. Getting away from them would require any of these: Get out of their buildings. Get out of sight. So yes, there would be some form of stealth. Leave their territory. ChiroVette

	What I would like to see is a way to earn back some form of gang forgiveness if the game intends to hold it against you for completing certain missions. So, say you after kill Salvatore in III, a new set of missions opens up where you become friends with the Mafia again. Either that, or as Randome suggests, have some way around the gangs hating you thing, like stealth or wardrobe items you can buy to impersonate gangs when you are in their territory. -------------------

	Yeah, similar clothes or driving the same car should totally give you a gang-pass, but would then make you a target of THEIR rival gang. I dunno about forgiveness missions... they should just bring back gang respect so you can't always have everyone in your favor, but you can still choose who you want to be allies with. -------------------

Yep, but you just killed the Mafia boss so being shot at is to be expected. ;p I don't know about a way of earning the gang's favour again, you had that in GTA II which was awesome but there was no defined storyline which we're sure to have here. Instead, Randome's point about the clothes and vehicles would be an awesome idea. I mentioned in another thread that all the cosmetic features really don't interest me, they need to have some tangible uses like the cop oufit from Vice City. 	It could be an idea for them to take what they did in Red Dead, and the ways you could obtain gang uniforms in that, and implement it in GTA V. For any that don't know how it worked, you basically had to complete a number of objectives, which ranged from winning a game of poker to completing certain missions amongst other things. Once you had finished the objectives you could purchase the uniform from a tailors. It worked very well in RDR and I can see that system having even more uses in GTA V. Personally I don't want to see as many 'wasted' friends. By that, I don't mean ones drunk or stoned out of their face, I think I'd 'hang' with them more often than others, what I mean is ones that have no other use than to go and do activities, or for their uses to be entertaining. In the end, on BoGT, I think the only people I got in contact with were Armando and Henrique purely for cars and guns. The likes of Brucie were useful for a bit but there was little to none variation with them, that's something that definitely needs addressing. I also don't want to see a return of the shitey online system. Maybe it's because I was late to the party so the number of people online had diminished, but I find it's impossible to connect to game already in progress and the ones that I do join, I get booted for connection problems. I don't have this with any other games, however, so I'm guessing it's something to do with the servers.

	A character that doesn't have such a depressing life. Seriously, Nico's life was just as shit at the end of the game as the start, he didn't really achieve anything. Another major story problem with IV was the villain, if you chose one option Pegorino became the final boss, which seemed like a bit of a letdown seeing as he only appeared in the game towards the end of the entire story. Dimitri should have always been the final boss. Also, if my character gets hit by a car I don't won't to sit there watching him roll around for the next 15 seconds.. It'd also be really nice to see the whole idea of businesses returning, if I remember correctly GTA IV didn't have any of that.

	What I don't want to see is R* make another GTA. I don't mean literally, I just mean that there should be a re-definition of what a GTA game is. People should be able to really connect with the characters, feel sad when one dies, be angry at those who are against them. That's how I felt in...oh wait, I never felt that in GTA. Johnny and Luis were throwaway characters, in my opinion, but I really cared about what happened to Niko and the people in his life during GTAIV proper, more than I probably ever had in a GTA game. On the current topic of the thread, I think it's time to let the early hand-holding go. Better yet, the hand-holding throughout the entire game. I'm talking about the conventions of the last generation: cartoonish arrow signs over cars you're chasing, in-game dialog boxes that aren't on your cellphone and other such features that drag you out of actually being in a living, breathing world. They can incorporate those things into the reality they've created: we had the zoom in on a car feature in GTAIV when you're in a chase, why did we need that little red arrow over the car? I have a fully-functioning cellphone in my pocket and a character who can speak, why do I need in-game dialog boxes popping me up to tell me to come back at 6:30 for a mission? Take the training wheels off of you're expansive game world, Rockstar, or at least give players the option to do so themselves.

I hate realism in games. I want to have a small, thermonuclear device in a sandbox game and reduce a couple of city blocks to rubble and enjoy the subsequent carnage. But guess what? When I drive three blocks away and then back again, I expect the city to magically heal itself back to pristine condition with absolutely NO expected half-life fallout whatsoever. To me, realism spoils the inherent fun in a game because it RESTRICTS me and stops me from doing what I really want to do and prevents me from making the environment conform to my will, and instead, I have to follow "the rules" and/or pay the consequences. That is what I honestly hated so much about GTA IV. While Master will argue that no game is truly "realistic" and he absolutely has a point, my position is that sometimes developers try to impart "believability" to a game and create oppressive, constraining, constricting physics that cuts down on the fun for me. Now before you disagree with me (and it's cool if you do) just bear in mind that these are MY GAMING values, and I have no inherent expectation that you should agree with me. Master and I spent a ton of time playing SR2 on Steam and we spent many hours talking about this and debating this issue. And his position represents a great many gamers, and I respect it. In the same way I would like to level an entire square mile of a city and have it be rebuilt again by just driving a few blocks away, I expect the Mafia to FORGET all about the fact that I killed their stupid Don.
