From what I hear, Jagged Alliance: Back in Action has been in pretty decent shape for a few months, and should be even better now, as developer Coreplay (not to be confused with choreplay) has released even more patches for it since. With that in mind, you may want to pick up a standalone expansion for the game when it hits in September. Titled "Crossfire", it houses new weapons, maps (10 of 'em), mercs (also 10), missions, and offers about 15 hours of gameplay.
Crossfire takes place on the snowy nation of Khanpaa. Once peaceful, a group of mercs has it by the balls, and there seems to be nobody that can help. Sometimes you've just got to fight fire with fire, though, and so your own group of mercs are sent in to eliminate the threat. The details of it actually make it sound pretty realistic and political, which takes me by surprise, so there's that.
