	Log in to remove this advertisement Looks like it's that time again; when n00bs start realizing that they need something called a "network adapter" to play online, and even vets have trouble using their damn headset. I'v tried everything in my power. After numerous "DNAS" problems connecting to the servers, I finally reconfigured my router to let me join the games, but now I can't hear or talk over the headset. I'm using a D-Link DI-604, firmware version 2.20 (the latest), "gaming mode" enabled with all the appropriate ports open, yet I still can't get my headset to work! Any suggestions? And if you're having related problems, feel free to ask them here.

	get real internet! See they way i use it is i have a dedicated IP purchased for my PS2. doesn't cost me much since i have a lot coming into my house. Sorry, but this is all worthless to you! I'm bored!

	Umm... Whitecloak, Im meeting a lot of guys sayin that ther mic's bleeped up.. I got the first version of the mic I get it the day S1 went out and I can have both ways discussions... but I heard that some first version mic's can give you troubles... so my question would be wich kind of headset you have...? And If you can, trying the new version of the headset would be a nice thing just to be sure that's not your conex/router ...

	Whitecloak I can assure you that it's not your router, the reason being I have the same one, and my mic works fine with it. It's the server's that make it were you can't hear sometimes, nor talk sometimes, I can say I heard hundreds of people say this when I'm playing. Remember the servers are new, yet I'm sure they are still working on them to fix this problem. If you haven't been able to talk or hear at all period, maybe it's broken, or not compatible but I am sure it's not your router because I have the same one. -------------------

	I cannot connect with SOCOM II. I have been playing online with SOCOM 1 for over a year and I play online with EA titles all of the time. I have a DSL connection, which should be perfect. Each time I try to connect to SOCOM II it tells me that it does not detect a network connection. It also tells me that there is an error retrieving my network connection file, yet it has not given me the opportunity to create a connection yet? I have tried to connect w/ and w/out my router. Same results. I know that I am connected, b/c I have been playing on SOCOM I all day. Any Suggestions? This message was edited by Check in on Nov 24 2003. 	ok i know nothing about electronics so i am gettin dsl in a couple of days and i need to know if a router is needed to play socom2 online on my ps2

	A router is nice, but not necessary. You can just manually change the wires. Has anyone been able to connect to SOCOM II with a USB Ethernet Adapter? I think this may be my problem... ...I just found out that the go.net USB adapter will not work with any new PS2 titles... 	I'm about to get socom 2 and i wanted to know what do i need to have for good and fast online play i know i need a network adapter and a headset but i need to no more like what type of headset or something please help????

	Hmm...I tried everything, and to no avail. I rented Return of the King, and after around 5 online games my headset magically started working again! And then I logon to SOCOM 2 to find I can't hear a damn thing...

	TROTK is online ?!!??!?!??"!? Ok "Check in" if you using a router on your DSL connection you wont have to select your network config as a dsl conex but as a direct conex.... you wont need any pass or user name cauz the router will give it a direct conexion... And you should have the SONY N.A. it's the only one working for S2... Withecloak, I dont understand why your HeadSet dont wanna cooperate... have you try to swap it for a new one? tell them that it donsent work if it's still on the waranty and try to get a new one you said that your firmware was updated to the last one so on dont know which thing is missing ... sorry dude !?

	i have dsl and am having trouble setting it up to my ps2. i have the phone line plugged into the modem. the modem plugged into the network adapter by ethernet or usb. am i doing anything wrong please help.

	Easy shit dude, You didnt put any user name and passwork on you n.a. setting... What you have to do is put you n.a. setting disk in there... choose a conection with a user name and password in the menu and put your data in there... it will be saved on your mem card and you'll have to choose it when you'll be in the socom2 login screen menu... You can have more then 1 config on a mem card, take for example that I got 4 config on my mem card. 1 at home who's direct trough my router, 1 dsl with a pass and a user name at my gf place, another dsl one at my brother home and at a friend home as well ... so if you have a dsl and no router dont forget to put the user name and the password the ISP send you when you bought the service...

	Cloak, It may depend on what headset you have bro. I had the aftermarket plantronic one that worked really well in SOCOM 1. It worked for a little bit in SOCOM 2, but then all of a sudden I could not hear people, yet I could talk to them. I thought at first the speaker had blown or that my USB port was jacked. I took it down to Gamestop and talked to the guy. He said that he had heard that some of the mics were not working properly and that it just on SOCOM 2. Sow e plugged in my headset and went online for another game. The speaker worked fine, so he let me trade in that one for the official "SCEA" plantronic headset. He also said that there were several brands that just do not work for SOCOM 2. However, if you are using the original one that was included with SOCOM 1, I Cannot help you, as several of my friends still have this one and it works fine.

	cloak i had the same set up. it worked fine for me. but then my mom needed to put broadband on her lap top so we got a new router and i didnt have to change any settings it still worked. i think something is wrong with the headset. i remember you talking about your friend playing with you maybe he can let you test his headset on your system. see if that works. other than that i dont really know what the problem could be. maybe download the previous firmware... ------------------- animated gif of Terri Schaivo

	Ok i'm still playing SOCOM 1 and have yet to get my headset to work online and it pisses me off cause i'm getting SOCOM 2 for xmas and I want it to be able to work online. I just tried using my headset for Madden 2004 online and it worked perfectly. My router is a DLink DI 604 and I just downloaded firmware version 2.20 or whatever the latest update was, but now it says that I don't have the right program to open this, so now what do I do??? Do I have to download something else to open this program with??? Can someone please help me with this problem so I can talk to my teammates online?? Do I have to change anything else with my computer?? Any help I would greatly appreciate. THANKS
