Games similar to Growlanser

I'm starting this thread partly because one of the things we can contribute here on Neoseeker is "similar product suggestions" and partly because I'm always looking for good RPGs to play.

Growlanser has a unique battle system, but certainly there are other games with similar style and feel. I think I've already mentioned that Shining Force series has similarities. (Especially Shining Force 3). In some ways, "The Witcher" is a similar series (both have multiple story paths and endings, and lots of options that affect the game's outcome) but I'm not sure it's similar enough to include given that it's a Western Action RPG. I've already submitted Gungnir as a similar game.

Any more suggestions?

SMT: Devil Survivor series perhaps?

Yo daveyd. I think an extremely similar game is Valkyria Chronicles. Im not a big fan of srpgs, in fact, with a few exceptions, i almost hate the genre. I think that GL and VC are a step forward in that genre, each in their way, they suceeded to break the old tactics rpg formula by adding some different elements to the gameplay. I also think they resemble each other in terms of concept and narrative since they usualy tell a dramatic tale in a light-hearted mood and deal with real world problems like racism, poverty etc.

PS: I never played Devil Survivor, Knights in the Nightmare and other srpgs of this gen.

I oo dont like traditional srpgs. I tried with Disgaea, La Pucelle and others.

Only Langrisser, FF WotL and Growlanser i can play witouth getting borred.

Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits comes to mind.

Now that you mention it Devil Survivor 2 does have some elements that are similar to Growlanser.

Now that you mention it Devil Survivor 2 does have some elements that are similar to Growlanser.

Its maybe because suposedly part of the crew of career soft are in charge of the Devil Survivor series.
