Did you try pushing Control, holding it down, then pushing it down, and then pressing the ~ key?

I have exactly the same problem The command does not open the console! Anyone got any ideas please?

Your Ctrl or alt buttons may have a game command bound to them and it is disabling the console open bind. Make sure your ctrl and alt buttons don't have anything bound to them. This may help you.

The cheat console is not disabled when the CTRL/STRG, ALT/ALT GR or ~ buttons have a command. Your computer just has to receive the data from the keyboard. If it doesn't, your keyboard did not receive the data from a pushed button. Or it might be a pin that broke off from the cable. If that last thing happened, you can throw away your keyboard, because it'll be useless... If that's not the problem, I don't know what it could be.

The same thing here, but we replaced the keyboard with a new one (brand new) and it still wont work. Any ideas?

Try adding this to your doom 3 short cut icon,

"C:\Program Files\Doom 3\DOOM3.exe" +set com_allowconsole 1"
