yea it should work dont know what settings probaly medium but low will give better framerate but it should work okay

You need more RAM, and a Better video card would help when playing it. You have 256RAM but doom wants 384 and your video card is 64mbs which is what doom needs but you will run on low settings

The question you should be asking is "will doom 3 run well ok on with these specs?" not "will it work?" Of course it will work, just not very well and maybe with choppy framerates etc.

my specs:
Intel P4 550 (3.4ghz) w/ HT
1024mb Corsair pc3200 DDR-SDRAM
ATI Radeon x600 pro 256mb GPU
17" TFT flat screen monitor 1152x764
250gb seagate HDD

I run doom 3 on high settings with 4x AA and 2x AF, get a constant 30-35FPS which isnt bad. Looks great and plays fine, so should yours.

Hold on, you kind of confused me. wat specs do u need to run doom3 on ultra setting with decent frame rates

you'll need specs like this, or somethin close:

AMD 64 3200+, 1GB ram and 6800Ultra can run on ultra settings @ 1600x1200 screen resolution and get a pretty smooth frame rate.
but they really isn't much difference between ultra and high gfx settings. so high is more than good enough, for the quality of games these days.

i've got:

1 x amd athlon 64 3200+
1 x ati radeon 9800 pro 129mb
3 x 512mb pc3200 sticks
1 x 160gb sata wd harddrive
1 x 52x lg dvd-rom

i play the game on medium settings at 1280x1024 and i still get those 4 second moment where everything freezes and i can hear myself getting hurt, like at a door or when multiple enemies approach..can someone tell me what i can do to better this situation?

turn off any background programs that use up alot of memory, such as messenger programs or andythin like that, so that DooM3 is the only program using most of the memory, and see if that helps, if it doesn't put the graphics down to low or turn shadows off, that will boost the frames per second alot, and maybe stop the 4 second freezes all together.

actually what i did was use the performance tweaks on the main site, plus i defragmented my harddrive with diskeeper and it's running a lot smoother. now on high quality 1280x1024. i suggest others try it too.

it might, but there is nothin different noticeable about ultra, none of the gfx cards out at the moment, can make ultra mode look any different to the high gfx settings, but it will be best to get a new gfx card anyway cause games aren't gonna get graphically worse, only better lol
i used to run on ultra mode with my ATI 9600XT and it put increased pressure on it and it was constantly crashing to desktop because it was over heating, then my gfx card broke lol, so i got a new one and it works a dream, just not on ultra because i'm not risking it again even though my gfx card is more powerful.
