No vita release? Nonetheless, this is terrific news. I've been wanting a Doom 3 remaster for a while now, but had never expected a release with new maps. Not sure how I feel about the mounted flashlight though, I hope that is only an option, and not mandatory.

Is it actually being released on PC? I didn't see the PC logo at the end of trailer. If it is, I hope you can still quicksave. I hate checkpoints, don't know why, I just do.

I think it's because I haven't had my coffee yet but I was reading the entire thing thinking it was the original Doom being remastered. I was super hyped. I'm disappointed but yay Doom, none the less.

I've been looking forward to Doom 4 for years, but this is still a welcome addition to the series. Doom 3 wasn't the worst FPS of all time by a long shot, my only two complaints were the flashlight situation (which is being rectified) and how dull it got eventually. Doom 3 was a very long game, and it was more of the same every level. The fear factor wore off about half-way through the game because you can only hide an imp under the stairs or around a corner so many times before it becomes easy to predict an ambush. Aside from these two flaws, I found the atmosphere very dreadful and gorgeous.

Doom 3 definitely shows its age but I think it still looks good, at least when you're surveying a room and don't press your face to any surface.

I think it's hilarious that when this game came out people who didn't know what they were doing were flooding forums with "can I run it" threads, and the high-end hardware of the day was the only thing that could bring you the best graphics. These days you can run the game at full settings using an off-the-shelf system with the weakest of modern GPUs, or maybe even integrated graphics.

I was the same my computer back then was a fine beast, but my Geforce FX 5950 could only run it on high (which looked amazing back then anyway).

It was a glorious era for PC gaming indeed (and gaming in general really), a lot of great games.

Read about this yesterday and am pretty psyched. I liked Doom 3, albeit the flashlight issues, but have never wanted to grab a 360 just to play a retro title. A remastering (with a flashlight fix included), and the Resurrection of Evil addage, and the original games = win. Also hated Rage, so this would be a plus. Kinda owe us anyway for Duke Nukem.
