Free-to-play PC shooter Tribes: Ascend has seen 1.2 million downloads since its official launch in April -- not hard to see that as a success.
Part of the reason for the high numbers is word of mouth, and the friend referral system, the latter of which has brought in over 110,000 people. A little disturbingly, seven players have each brought in over 500 people via referrals.
Tribes' success means fans get lots of love in return, Hi-Rez Studios boss Todd Harris says.
"The game's success allows us to give back to the community through free DLC updates, tournament events and expansion into new markets in coming months."
