2012/2013 - Season Results
England
English Premier League Despite Manchester United dominating nearly every competition in England, it was Chelsea that pipped Man Utd to the Premier League by just one point. Reading and Leeds made a straight return back down to the championship, and they joined bt Blackburn who struggled and finished in 20th.
Npower Championship Swansea managed to get a straight return back up to the Premier League as champions, as did runners up Wigan. Derby despite coming 6th managed to force their way up by winning the play-off final 2-1 against Watford. Meanwhile Nottingham Forest, Barnsley and Ipswich Town all fell through the trapdoor and will be playing in League one come next season.
Npower League One Preston and Doncaster both finished on 90 points but Preston having +7 better goal difference won them the title, Sheffield wednesday will join them playin Championship football next year as they managed to win the play-offs. On the other hand Morecambe, Wycombe, Hartlepool and Yeovil will be playing in Npower league two after they succumbed to relegation.
Npower League Two Shrewsbury clinched the title on the last day, winning by two points as Gillingham could only manage a draw, although join the Shrews in league one, along with Burton and Stevenage. At the other end of the table Oxford and Northampton were booted out of the football league, northampton a marginal 9 points from safety.
Community Shield Manchester United clinched their first trophy of the season right at the start beating bitter rivals Manchester city 1-0, Patrice Evra scoring the only goal in the 46th minute of the match.
League Cup Manchester United made it two cups, by beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 in the League Cup Final, young German United Reinhard Hansmann got the only goal in minute 58 of the game.
The FA Cup Manchester united added a third to there collection for the season with another victory over greatest rivals Manchester City, this time beating them by two goals to nil, Javier Hernandez gave United the lead in the 14th minute and aging Dimitar Berbatov put it beyond doubt with a second in the 62nd minute.
Europe
Serie A Juventus managed to win the Serie A title over runners up Inter by 5 points, winning a decent 24 of their 38 games, Sadly Parma,Cesana and Novara couldnt avoid the drop back down.
Liga BBVA Barcelona stormed to another league win to there name, winning it by a mighty 12 points ahead of rivals Real Madrid. They even scored an outstanding 102 goals throughout the whole campaign. Espanyol, Mallorca and Rayo were the teams relegated.
Champions League Manchester united completed there quadruple coup, with a 2-1 win over Liga BBVA champions Barcelona. Wayne Rooney gave united the lead in the 30th minute. Xavi equalised for Barcelona in the 66th minute, but late sub Ashley Young tapped in in the 80th minute to win the game and the Champions League for united.
Europa League Premier League winners Chelsea found themselves in the final of the Europa League with there opponents being Olympique Marseille. Chelsea got off to a flyer as David Luiz scored in the 12th minute of the match. Loic Remy managed to pull one back and equalize for his French side, but torres got his name on the scoresheet in the 62nd minute and Marseille found they had no reply, its no Champions League but it is a good first European cup win for Chelsea.
