 25 and Still Jobless – 2014-15 Season – I'm Heading To The Premier League?  I had finally done it, I have finally resigned from my post as the Gateshead manager, something which may or may not have been a good idea at the time now that I think about it. However, what is done now can not be replaced, no matter how much I wish that it was not true. I departed the club on really good terms, despite the fact that I left to join another club, but they wished me the very best either way, so things have to go well... right?  I later found out that after all that I had gone and done for Bristol Rovers, they just overlooked my application and signed another man instead, something that left me fuming. Well, if they ever ask for my services again, then they could just ahead and think again, because I'm never going to join their club ever again with their current chairman. This left me looking and failing to get a series of jobs.    The league 1 side, Peterborough United, who I felt could one day get into the Premier League under the right guidance, but I didn't get the job, not that I was the favourite or anything. It wasn't a big loss or anything, just somewhat disappointing.    The Championship side, Bristol City, the local rivals of Bristol Rovers was another side I ended up applying for, so I could end up guiding the local rivals of the team that snubbed me after all that I had done just to even make it easier for the side from Bristol to hire me. However, Bristol City didn't hire me anyway, so I ended up not caring.    The Championship side, and also the side looking to gain promotion to the Premier League, Leeds United were another team that I had ended up applying for. I felt that with my experience of getting promotion with Gateshead would end up helping me with this position, however, Leeds were only considering my interest and nothing more. So when I didn't get the job, I didn't feel disappointed, at least they actually considered me, unlike those two Italian clubs anyway.   Crewe ended up sacking their manager and the day before their next match, approached me to be their manager, I decided to delay the approach, because I felt as though that there was something out there that was better for me, especially when you consider the fact that I beat Crewe in my first game of the season and they were 21st in League 2, 22nd now if I remember correctly.  However, this was the news that stunned me to the core more than anything that I could have imagined. Fulham had sacked their manager and much to my surprise, I was named the favourite for the job. "As of right now, Fulham have sacked Alex McLeish from his post as the manager of Fulham football club, the favourite has already been named for the job, and that man is none other than the former Bath City and Gateshead manager, James Young." Can I be blamed for being more shocked than any man alive? No. Can I be blamed for making my interest known almost instantly after hearing the news? No. Can I be blamed for being shocked at the fact that within a single month of December, I would be going from League 2 to the being on the verge of entering the Premier League to be the youngest ever manager in the top flight of English Football ever? No Am I going to apply for the job right now? Definitely. Watch out everyone, James Young is heading up to the English Premier League! what month are you in atm? how are fulham looking? (are they safe at 16th?) go for it what is there squad like? weird taht your favourite and leeds didnt want you lol show leeds that they wer wrong WE HATE DIRTY LEEDS! James is moving to London  maybe i just had a thought, we could have acted as fans from several clubs and had like SSN interviewing us (maybe a bit far fetched) | |

25 and Still Jobless – 2014-15 Season – My Dream Home Awaits  So in the end, the media had for the first time in ages regarding me, have been wrong. I was not to be the Fulham manager after all this time. I felt a sharp pain of rejection shoot through me, perhaps I should have realized that it was simply too good to be true, even if I was to go ahead and produce something special, they would in no way shape or form accept me as I am right now. I need something more, something that would separate me from the rest of the world! Then it came, suddenly the job at the manager of the Singapore National Team came up and my eyes lit up in a way that they had not lit up in a while, I applied for the job and waited, waited, waited and waited. Then I got a reply, they wanted me as their coach, I accepted the offer.  This was what I needed, an experience that would separate me from manager other managers in the world, how many people could say that they have been the Singapore manager having been a foreigner? No really anyone, was there. I knew the English language and that was one of their main languages, along with Chinese and Malay, two languages that I was willing to learn.  In my first ever press conference in charge of the national team, I made my ambition known loud and clear, I wanted to make this team into one of the best in the world, no matter what the cost. If they liked me, they liked me, if they hated me, they hated me, it was as simple as that. I was only here to bring success and to give my CV another achievement that would catch the eyes of any big clubs looking to hire me.  Despite the fact that we have yet to have a game under my reign, we managed to go up 3 places in the rankings, due to good results against Indonesia, so I already had a bit of a run going, something that I was going to work with. All I need to do now is find an assistant manager. Easily said than done.  Just some of the sights that I will be able to enjoy now that I am here to work in Singapore. 25 and Still Jobless – 2014-15 Season – The Good and the Bad Side of Management I really had no clue what I was to expect when I took over at Singapore if I was completely honest with you, one would say that I was delighted by the long term breaks and this gave me more time to really take my time to get things together. However, now that I had an assistant manager in the form of the Spaniard Ivan Helguera, I felt more confident.  My first game in charge was against a team so weak that they didn't even have a world ranking, however, that didn't give us the excuse to sit back and relax all the way through. We made sure of our domination when we got the victory, a great start to my international career.  However, our next game was to be completely different, one would say that it was a reality check, but I knew that as soon as I found out that we were to go up against South Africa we were going to lose, it was practically written in the script. Still, to lose by 5 goals is painful, even for me. However, who was I to complain? I was just happy to get the experience.
