Hey guys, sorry, no update today. What do you know, my eyeballs burst! No update today, as I'm currently eating through a straw. Will post again when I've learnt braille..

Was half tempted to go with that, but decided against it.

Anyway, I've started to do play FM for the first time since I've last updated the story, over a week ago, so I'm hoping that I will be able to get a good of updates within the next two weeks, mostly because I'm hoping to get Gateshead promoted (hoping being the key word there) and also hoping to get nominated for a certain award and potentially win it (even if it's really unlikely).

Still can't believe that I spend an entire week with my eye problem, yeah.

What a great way to start the month of December

---

Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy 28th birthday James Young, happy birthday to you, that was the song that I was being sung before our match at home to Lincoln City, it had been mentioned before the match at both the press conference as well as by the man who gives out the line-ups before the match started. The Gateshead fans actually sang along much to my surprise, but at the same time, I felt touched. This never happened at Bath, because I never had a home game on my Birthday when I was their manager, just an away one. The FA Trophy draw had also been made and much to my surprise, it was against Lincoln City, at home, like our match the day after, only this game was to be played on the 14th of December, 10 days after our league match with them.

I didn’t care. To me it was just another chance for revenge.

In the end, we ended up winning 3-2 against Lincoln, a side that I had been finding it hard to get points off at one stage, and because Stockport could only draw against Woking, we found ourselves in 2nd place, 4 points off Hereford to make it 11 league games without a defeat.

The next game was the FA Cup match at Oxford, who had a stadium that was only around 1000 seats bigger than ours, while we were in the Blue Square Premier, they were in League 1. So in my personal opinion, we did not have a good chance of winning this match, even if we did beat Cheltenham. However the match ended up in a 3-1 defeat knocking us out of the FA Cup, not that I was too upset about in all honesty.

In the league however, Hereford lost, meaning that we could end up closing the gap to them to simply 1 point in our game in hand against promotion rivals York, which was next. Now I am more than happy to just go on and on about how I was going to beat them, but I’m not, I’ll just show you the score after we win. In the end much to my surprise, the match ended finishing at 2-2, where we had to come from 2 goals down just to pick up the point.

The next game was our first FA Trophy game against Lincoln, who everyone expected us to destroy. Seriously, nobody had faith in them to do anything useful. Hell, they even sacked yet another manager and I was once again linked with the job, not that I was going to take it in the first place. However, I expected a win just as much as everyone else, and so as the first opponent of the man I succeed as Gateshead manager, Ian Bogie, I decided that I would just do him a favour and smash his hopes and dreams right down to earth. Not that I can be blamed or anything. In the end the matched finished up as a 2-0 win for Gateshead.

Our next match was against Woking, when our next match would have been against Bath, had it not been for the fact that they had a FA Cup replay against AFC Wimbledon for the right to face off against Premier League side Norwich at Carrow Road, which they lost. However, with this game in hand and Hereford losing again, I was looking to take advantage of Hereford slipping up once more. The match ended up finishing 1-0, while Hereford lost for the second game winning (against Stockport who was in 2nd, so I really couldn’t hold it against them), but who was to complain? This made things more easily for me to go top of the table next month, if I don’t do so this month. Another comment to make, the top 3 sides (including Gateshead) are now separated by just goal difference, with Gateshead having the game in hand, how great is that? Oh and better yet, the game in hand is against Bath, my former club that I SAVED, well, I can think of one way for them to repay me.

The second to last game of the month was none other than a game away to Forest Green Rovers. Now, what better way to get revenge on a side that has tormented me for years than doing the league double over them? Seriously, how great would that be? Not only that, but it would also mean that I would be getting closer to being top of the table. The match finished 2-1 to Gateshead, after we went 1-0 down. Do you know what the best thing about this result was? Both Hereford and Stockport lost today, meaning that I was now top of the table, 1 point clear of Fleetwood, who had jumped from 4th to 2nd. Unbelievable and not only that, but the top 5 teams were now only separated by just 3 points as well. Way a go Hereford, you’ve let me go top of the table, after you have a 7 point lead, very clever.

The last game of the month was a home tie against Mansfield, you know, the team that we beat in our second game of the season after having to play for over 10 minutes with just 10 men? Well yea, only this time, it was at our place, the prettier place in my personal opinion. Still, being top of the table was a brand new experience for me, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. However, since this was my third year as a manager, I felt confident with myself. The final score ended up being 1-1, where we conceded a goal late on, much to my annoyance. However, considering that I put out a weaken side (due to the fitness of most of my main players), I shouldn’t be too surprised. Still, it’s really annoying.

However, despite some problems, we finished the month top of the table, so I felt pleased with myself in the end, most of which was caused by fitness levels, I could see myself and the side near Newcastle and the border of Scotland actually going up to league 2 in this kind of form, especially with that all important game in hand against my former club, Bath City.

What more could I want?
